side window tints

should i remove them. its not taht i dislike the look but there so dark you cant see a thing in the mirrors at night with them up. there probally illegal. passed the mot no probs but it is a pain. any tips? and how dark is teh factory tint. its a jspec

If it passed the MOT they cant have been that dark. 75% of light must pass through the side windows in front of the B pillar, which is a very light tint.

If you think they are illegal, but passed the MOT then somethings not right there lol

lol oh right, must just be me then, just dont wanna pull it out and be left with asticky window taht looks crap cos the quater is dark.

Ive got limo tints on my rear and rear quarters and looks fine. I know what you mean though, i had some darker tint front side windows and like you couldnt see bugger all at night, but looked cool during the day. And with the targa shades it felt like i was in a coffin

Window tints are not checked at MOT. Garages dont have the means to test the properly.

Police on the other hand have light meters and can issue a fixed penalty for having windows that are excessively tinted.

Also in the event of an accident you could be held liable, or have your insurance refuse to pay out.

Not preaching, just offering some advice.

Yup, all true.

Also pretty much all windows on most modern cars have some form of tinting built into the glass so even adding legal level tints will usually put them over the legal requirement if checked (70% light transmission IIRC)
