I think about £85 should do it for a basic de-restricter

I dont think there is a diy way.

I would recomend you put that money towards a performance ECU which has no speed restriction anyway.

Paul

The cheapest way is to splice an HKS speed Limit Defenser into the feeds to the ECU. I had this on mine and removed it when I put a JWT chip in that does this for you. I sold the old SLD to Dave Marley for a tenner but they are a bit more than that. I'm sure Johnyy from Grasshopper could get an SLD for you.

Simon

Simon actually sold it to be for 20 quid (maybe I should ask for the other tenner back! :-) ). I think they are around £80 new.

Ah yes £20 it was Dave!!! ;-) I can't remember if you got it fitted? Work OK?

Simon

It's pretty easy to fit once you've worked out which wire is which.

As for whether it works, yes! But naturally, only on a private track.

If you have a standard Jap exhaust there is also a restrictor there too.

Save your money for a ECU mate - you will get much more value for money :)

Andyp, What's this about a restrictor in the exhaust????

Jan..

Hi Jan,

From what I remember from the meet in MK you don't need to worry about restriction. Your car sounded Pukka ;-)

eddie ;-)

Jan, the standard Jap exhaust has a restrictor in the form of a diameter reducing ring spot welded near the back of the mid section. Apparantely, if you remove the raer sections you can see it and ought to be able to get to it to knock it out with a cold chisel. I have seen a 'how to' somewhere, so that's probably on TT.net.

Most people seem to have replacement exhausts so it doesn't matter to them.

OK Thanks Guys, I think I'll get them to check it when I get the Drive shaft Centre bearing done..

Jan...

/cheesy grin/

Its naughty to drive over 70mph ;-)

Glen.
