So after a couple of months of Z ownership......

my thoughts are that I am seriously liking this motor

My biggest criticisms would be the handling in the bad weather and the harsh ride on the rubbish cattle track roads we have over here.

But the above aside, I like her! The looks of the car, the handling (in dry conditions) the smooth delivery of power from the V6, the subtle exhaust notes from the twins at the back and the many positive comments from the guys and girls at work amount to a smile on my face driving!

Glad you are liking your ZX mate.....

.....and a bit of advice for the bad weather! Make sure your tyres are up to the job - don't use cheap or crap brands. When I bought my first ZX it had brand new Avons all round and the car handled so bad in rain etc - one replacement set of Goodyear Eagle F1s and the car was transformed!!

Decent tyres really DO make all the difference - don't skimp on them!!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

the best advice yet . uve only got 4 little bits of rubber connecting all the zeds power to the tarmac . make sure its good quality . and go easy on the loud pedal when its wet

falkens fk452's, excellent price and great all round tyre. the choice of many on here.

Agreed !! many good reports on these

Falken 452 - Excellent value, that way outperform there price

Goodyear F1 Assymetric - Excellent dry and wet weather tyre

R888 = worst possible tyre to reccomend in a thread about wet weather handling

+ 1 for Snowleopard comments!

Two months in as well, and completely agree about the styling... looks awesome, from any angle! i love the roofline and lowness of it all. V6 sounds amazing... have driven 3 4cly cars, and a bmw straight six, but nothing comes close to the burble of a decatted V6! its totally addictive... there isnt a single tunnel ive driven through where i havent dipped the clutch and blipped the engine :D another very important point - the driving position is spot on - nice low seat, fairly close steering wheel, gearchange easily to hand.

Interior is plush - the front seats are really comfy, motorway cruises are a joy, especially with cruise control set to a lazy 70.

Surprisingly havent had as many admiring glances as i might have thought - probably because no one knows what it is! still, hides its age remarkably well for a 20 year old car.

Only drawback i have found so far is slightly wayward cornering... im never sure if its sliding, or HICASing, or generally wobbling - think i might do a hicas delete and bushing overhaul, so i'll know exactly whats going on at the back. Also, need to stop driving it like a pansy - im driving it like an NA engine, changing up just as the turbo kicks in and then wondering where the powers gone in the next gear... Need to get it in the power band and keep it there!

Can't wait till some sun comes back so i can get roof panels out!

One Happy owner :)

ive been reading up on the Falken 452 an the say there ok, but when the get half worn there terrible tyre an handleing get bad, i see toyo tr 1's are a good all round tyre

I had a spare set of 'winter' michelins on stock cheap jap wheels. The tyres were shot when i got them, but £170 later + It was amazing difference. The front felt much more planted, whilst the rears only had the odd slip rather than full traction loss, you still have to drive with care though...They burn up fast in the dry as well..I thought it was a better option than knackering a good set of wheels, or being in the ditch...

michelin pilot sport all the way for all year round driving...

expensive but there you go...

tried the falkens, ok in dry shit in wet.

michellin PS3 very good in dry. awful in wet,

budgets, crap dry, crap wet.

best for me so far has benn maxxis,, great in dry, great in wet.

but may be personal preferance. and car setup.

corenering grip was ok on all, but if you nail in in the wet most spin in 3rd which is not good.
