I have been driving professionaly for more years than some of you have been around!!! I am a firm believer that young people should be given a chance, not everyone is the same, therefore you cannot tar everyone with the same brush, it is wrong.

Saying this, my uncle who is 83 gets hammered with insurance, this too is wrong, it is in fact ageism by the insurance companies.

Most of the young and older.....being diplomatic...lol, have clean driving records and licences, but are discriminated against by having to pay through the nose because the "statistics" show that the young and the older age groups are "more likely to have an accident".

I was in fact in the Ambulance Service, and I can tell you that ANYONE, no matter what age can have an "accident" that is why they are called accidents, although the words we used to abreviate to denote a road accident was RTA (road traffic accident) this has now been changed to RTC (road traffic collision) because accident infers that there is no one to blame. In my opinion, after all the road accidents that I attended (and believe me it was a lot), one could not say that there was an average age, the whole age spectrum was covered.

This is why I have this opinion... All drivers no matter what age, should be given realistic car insurance quotes. If then, they have a collission or accident, and they are deemed to be at fault, then put up the premiums, and I am in total aggreement with the person that said why are we penalised if our car is stolen, or damaged by idiots??? I think you will find that it is these idiots that steal cars are the worst offenders for crashing them, unfortunately they are very often young, so get categorised in the young category, and as most of these little idiots do not even hold a driving licence, they should just go into the idiot category, not an age category.

Hope I haven't offended anybody in this, except for the idiots who steal cars, to them I make an exception.....lol.
