Has anyone else noticed that zed prices seem to be on the way up? Just in general now i have been looking around the prices have gone up since i bought mine 2 years ago. Now there does seem to be a few bogus people that believe an automatic is worth 7k or that their engine might be producing 800bhp which looks good in theory but even the worst off zeds people are looking for higher prices.

I think some of them need a reality check or at least join a forum and find out really what it is worth

I believe that over the next few years we will see a steady increase in the value of our cars. The vast majority of the UK market still don't know what a ZX is and as they become rarer and people realise what incredible machines they are, the price will rise for good ones.

My car is worth 20k - fact:tt2:

Doesn't matter how much you ask for a car, the only important thing is what you actually sell it for. No-one advertises a car at the price they want, cos they know they'll get haggled down.. Generally, I think the prices have pretty much bottomed out - if you can pick a MOT failure up for under £1k then they can't exactly get much cheaper. But every time a little zed badge goes up to the big garage in the sky, it probably adds another £1.37 to the value of our cars. Every cloud..

I'll accept 17.5k though

You've hit a good point there. I think there are two values for our cars...the market value and...the value to us as owners. Someone posted some information on here a while ago explaining that if a TT sold for around £35 - £40 new in 1993, the equivilent new price today would be something like £63K...to me they are worth every penny of that. Mind you if someone offered me £63K...I may consider selling!

I guess like someone else said, anything be it a car, house, etc is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it at the point you're wanting to sell, but I do hope the Zed will eventually become the iconic classic it deserves to be. Awesome cars

yes i understand all those points and when i bought mine a couple of years ago tbh i think i payed more than i should off for the condition however now it seems people are wanting more and more for their zeds even off the forums which can only suggest that they are being valued more now :) Good news for us i suppose however id rather hold onto mine :)

I sure hope i can keep mine a long time, the car is a ledgend better than all its replacements except possibly the 370. is there any way to find out how many are still road legal, perhaps something through dvla or whatever?

i asked a similar question a while back on here . you would think that there must be a record of numbers of tax reminders sent out on computer .

I've just conducted a quick national survey..

There are:

4372 Z32s registered in the UK.

3112 are declared SORN

1208 are registered to addresses with more than 2 other vehicles

52 are in regular use.. of which..

6 have not broke down in the last 12 minutes

meaning - they're as rare as rocking horse muck

Whilst writing this another 4 Zeds have been put on axle stands and 3 have been diagnosed with terminal oil cancer:blink:

Fact or a bit of fun?

Imho judging by the increasing text speak posts on here and wanted ads for consumable cheaper items id say prices are falling :scared:

1 sorn (actually in portugal lol)

1 fully road legal here (only get used once in a while i.e 1 or 2 sundays a month :()

3113 sorn from end of this month when my tax runs out lol

I dont think prices will ever go up:ph34r:. Enthusiasts will pay a "good" price for one they know is right. This price will be considered ridiculous by the average person for a 20 year old car. More and more will be sold for under a couple of grand and when they break (and they will) they will be sold as parts or scrapped. And even though they will become rare due to this process

I dont see the prices rising until there are next to none left.

Innit..geeezahrrr!

If there are only 1200 or so actually on the road, IMO it should be £20K for a poor example! I tell you, prices will rise...as long as we don't keep talking them down!

Prices will go up. Just might take a while.

Eg E30 M3. I remember when they were getting older, you could get one for £5k. Now, your looking at £10k to £30k!!!

It is a good car the zed, its warn the years wel, and doesn't look dated. That way, people will still want them, and in years to come, when weve broken all the bad ones, only the good will be left, and people will pay for them..

I agree Sir! (Big Jim) well said. I had a chap say to me a while ago about the number plate I have on my Zed. He thought the car was new and couldn't understand why it has a "K" plate on it. I have lost count of the number of times people have asked what it is and commented on how modern it looks etc. This will have an impact on market value albeit over the next few years.

I put petrol in mine once, and oldish fella in the car next to me said "nice car, what is it?" I siad "nissan 300zx". I thought, he hasn't got a clue. Then he said "oh, is it a Z32?, my missis has a Z31!!!"

Strange. I have seen an older woman in an F reg Z31 in good condition about. I see it all the time so must be her everyday car!
