Yeah a bit, I was quoted £150 a head now they have said over £500 including a new headgasket set they paid £120 for ???? If thats actually about right then fair enough but just want to do a little research 1st before i tare them a new one.

500 bucks for a pair heads fully done with new parts sounds fair to me tbh.

Headgasket from Nissan i think are around 25-30 quid each, so 60 quid max plus vat for the 2.

Cheers for that, The heads already had new lifters etc I just wanted them checked cleaned and any valves replaced that were needed. (which was 2 on one head) Thought £120 for a complete gasket set was taking the micheal a bit.

Not sure what to do with the forged bottom end tbh, had a mechanic look at it and he thinks theres nothing wrong with it, so really not sure what to do with it

lol. just had my mate who re-builds heads do both of mine for £80. bargain i say:)

So that's 40 quid a head, about an hours work? so either a bargain or quarter of a job.

Seeing as he's a mate, I hope it's not the latter...........

So he's cracked and pressure tested them stripped them back fully cleaned them replaced any seals, valves etc all for £40 a head that's some he'll of a mates rate

Would he be the one that worked on these heads the first time? By any chance??

let him cut the seats and valves then do the rest yourself, quick lap of the valves, new stem seals then rebuild, jobs a good un.Not that involved really.
