Stupid question, but can I cover the centre of the viscose fan?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but if i had a cover plate over the centre of the viscose fan clutch would it cause any air flow problems? :pinch:

Not sure mate, but the viscous clutch bit might be affected i.e. heat up quicker and start your fan earlier causing the engine to not reach optimal temp and the world to end....

I have polished all the front parts and want to leave it all exposed, the only ugly thing left is me and the centre of the fan :1eye:

You could always polish the clutch mate. It would take a little while but would come up nice and shiny.

Yeh, I thought of that and still a possibility, but I wanted a smooth sort of look, a bit like a flat chrome plate :sneaky2:

well if you cant what about some very fine wiremesh, almost like a gauze witha binicle to tidy up the edge. air can still pass but doesnt allow you to see the gubbins

All the fins on the viscose are designed to increase it surface area to absorbe the tempeture from the radiator air, if you cover it will give the clutch an incorect reading and lead to overheating. Its basic function is the oposite of a heatsink

Hope this helps

ah i see, be nice to delete it entirarly in that case and just run a leccy fan

No, I want to keep the fan like nissan intended, I would rather keep it all standard but a bit shinier, if you know what i mean

Nice one, I had a sneaky suspicion that all those fins were there for a reason, oh well, look`s like another weekend of polishing, and bleeding fingers

there are some nice 3 part chrome effect paints out now , black undercoat , chrome top coat and clear laquer sealer as 3rd stage ..wouldnt take long to take the fan off degrease it and spray it up nice and shiny

Fit a big raidiator with the fan cover and it hides 90% of it :)

I dont want to hide it , I want it all nice and shiny like all your tin foil shit under your bonnet:tooth:
