hey guys, gonna do a oil change tomorrow,

was wondering what would be the best oil to use for this time of year,

cant get 10w30 fully synthetic anywhere!

lol. halfords reckon the book says 10w30 and motormania reckon 5w30?

lol im confused.

oh yea also what is the correct level on the dipstick lol stupid question but ive just got one line in the middle cant tell if that min or max or what :D

The "30" bit is too thin at full running temperature for a 300zx - that grade it better suited to modern engines.

 

For a farily stock ZX a "40" grade is better - and go to a "50" for highly tuned cars.

 

Nissan recommends a 10w40 semi synthetic; but now that fully synthetic is widely available, pic one of those - a 5w40. And before anyone says "5" is too thin - nonsence; that number is only relevant when the engine is cold (it's the ability to flow faster around the engine on a cold start; the lower = the better flow rate in winter)! It's the second number that counts at full running temperature!

You should have a hashed(criss-crossed textured) area which indicates the min and max range. If not then then you have incorrect dipstick.

hey,

changed the oil, had to get the 10w40 semi synth, carlube,new filter, put some hard pipes on the intake too, need new radiator now coz the bead on the top hose connection has broke of, its holding but i dont trust it.
