I have had the chrome ring come off the rev counter this week and have taken out the clocks to stick the ring back on. Since refitting the clocks the rtacometer reads about 500 rpm over. When the ignition is on it shows 500rpm without the engine running. I am wondering if the needel has moved so instead of showing 0rpm it sits a 500rpm, should I move the needel back to line up at zero??. Or is there something more sinister at work here

Thanks

Allan

Do you still have the needle stop in place? You should be able to nudge the needle down to the stop and it should read OK, its only the speedo you have problems with.

Stop is still there, the needel hits the stop when the ignition is off, when you turn the ignition on but without the engine running it hops upto 500rpm. going to drop it on the conzolt to see if the revs of the engine are the same as the tacho. as on idle it reads 1500, but i think the engine is at 750/850, will know a bit later

Even better if you have conzult, you can adjust the position of the needle and check for calibration on screen. Plug your clocks in with the front facia off, so you can touch the needle. Good luck.

Sorted checked the revs with conzolt and ajusted the needle to match. conzort says running at 750/760 spot on.

Car is running great after a 3/4 month lie up.

Just been out and scared some grannys ;)
