Right guys and gals, i need your help!

As some of you may or may not know having recently tried to fix my Autobox, with little success, i have decided to take everyones advice and go manual, about which i am now very excited :hyper:

I got my car towed to Andy Isherwoods in Ascot on the weekend, and we started to clear some space and get a few bits of one of his breakers that we will need, and then we got mine up on some stands.

We will be working on the car this weekend (Sat 13th) and on the weekend of the 27th/28th (and then probebly every weekend that it is dry untill it's done!)

Unfortunately for Andy i am a complete mechanical novice, so my request for help is to ask if there is anyone out there (skilled or not) who can come and help on either of the dates mentioned to try and get this project moving along more swiftly?

I will of course ensure that anybody who lends a hand is fed and watered (burgers and beers at the nice local pub)

I am desperate to get my car back as soon as possible as i feel like there is a zed shaped hole in my life at the moment, and much as i love my little scirocco.... It's just not the same.

So please guys if anyone has a spare couple of hours or just wants to get their hands dirty while helping a fellow member get his pride and joy back on the road then i would really appreciate it and be etearnally gratefull.

Thanks for reading

Paul

Cant do this weekend fella but should be about for the 2 weekends after, pm me your no and ill let you know!

It will give me some practice for doing mine lol

Craig

if you come pick me up in your VW and can drop me back, im more than willing to come help a hand, but as me own zed is off the road due to current water pump issues im a bit at a loss for transport at the weekends.

Ahh i saw it there on saturday - you're lucky you have any doors or bootlid i was about to ask andy if i could buy them for the new car

I would love to help but the only time i'm down south is visiting the other half so a bit tricky to escape for the day without weeks of repercussions and earbending :( lol

I might be able to pop down and help. Ive done a gearbox change on my S13, so im guessing its the same except the gearbox in a 300 is bigger, heavier and less room ><.>

i could pop round, not sure why but fixing other peoples cars seems more interesting than fixing my own which is what i had planned

No mate, i am still paying him but i am really keen to get her back on th eroad asap, and i just thought that many hands make light work and all that.

You don't want too many people there, you have to remember your pretty confined where your working on a zed. in the cabin is definitely a one man job when down at the pedals, when changing the gear box 2 is a good number to fit it with out issues. 3 is helpful 4 is too many. again in the engine bay id say a max of 3 people but only if there are things to do on either side of the car.

Too many cooks can spoil the broth

Ian i appreciate the offer, but it's an hour and a bit to you, then another 2 back to Andi's then the return to drop you home, then back to mine would be at least 6 or 7hrs driving, which wouldn't leave much time for getting anything done.

I do need to drop your ramps off though mate. Very kind of you to lend them to me.

cheers, but its a bit far, i guess about 2 hour drive, on only 4 cylinders

I just want to give a BIG shout out to Marco and Ian for helping out today.... Marco was an absolute legend and without him we wouldn't have got half the stuff done today. Ian turned up about lunchtime (very convenient ) and managed to bend himself backwards and sort out a load of bits that even a russian gymnast would have struggled with.

I was just a bit humbled by the guys to be honest. All i could do really was to keep them topped up with bacon & egg sandwiches for breakfast, decent coffee, and then treat them to a couple of big fat burgers, made by my own fair hand, followed by a couple of cold ones to wash it all down.

Once again guys THANK YOU Sooooo much. Seeing what we (you) accomplished today i feel that we are now moving in the right direction and once again i really cannot thank you enough.

Andy and I will be at it again on the weekend of the 27th/28th so if you, or anyone else for that matter feels like putting your good samaritan hats on again, i will again stuff you full of homemade food and supply beers etc.

Thanks guys - getting more and more excited about getting her back on the road.

What a great day!! Good to see you chaps - what a giggle!

Great community spirit and as for those burgers!! bloody hell Paul!!

It's true - you learn something every day - Now I know how to make better burgers.... nice!!

Question.....

Is this a man being attacked by a Zed exhaust or is it abstract art LOL!!

Ian is either working so fast, the camera couldnt keep up or he has had enough and his spirit is leaving his body.

i would love to help but a bit too far away from me m8

Yeah, it was good fun today, and Andy thanks again for letting me store the car round yours while we do all this... Not even my ruggish charm could warm the heart of that bloke (neighbour) who; while shaking his head looked at me and what he probebly sees as yet ANOTHER bloody zed up on stands with frustrated exasperation in his eyes.:cursing:

Glad you liked the burgers mate:chef:
