im just in the middle of doing this myself mate, if you can wait a few days im sure i will have it figured

Cheerz bud, yeh i can wait a few days, my car wont be going anywhere for a while :thumbup1:

I gave myself some slack in the wiring by releasing it from under the wing , but i don,t think i really needed to .

The hole your trying to get it through just needs making slightly bigger by bending the bottom edge down a bit , i used a block of wood as a drift and knocked it down with a hammer , you can bend it back up after.

Once i,d stripped the top and bottom cover of the fuse box and marked and removed the relays it went through with a bit of wriggling .

IIRC isn,t ther a earth off the loom to the chassis leg just below the the fuse box ?? could that be stopping you bud .HTH

Thanks for the pics and info Boldy, Daz let me know last night where you had put yours, but unfortunatley i have parked my car tight up against my garage wall and i cant get access to that inner wing,so I decided to put the box under the centre headlight panel, car.mad said it was easy, it probably is but i cant seem to budge to loom over to that side :(

Yours is looking awesome bud

If you need a second pair of hands let me know.

Thanks for the offer Phil, I may take you up on that, even just a quick look and some suggestions bud:thumbup1:

If memory serves me correct (not always) some of the loom (not necessarily this one) is taped up along with hard plastic (to keep its shape) and then clipped to the bodywork. Could it be this thats stopping you moving it?

Yeh, I`ve removed the hard plastic cover and insulation tape to expose the wires, but another leg to under the wing comes off that preventing it moving any further:huh:

well this is what shes looking like so far, most of the crap is out of the way and been relocated, and the only problem so far is the short loom preventing me getting the box under the headlight panel :mad2:

I see you've removed the HICAS system Daz, nice job! Looks like it was never there! :tt2:

This is another reason why i left mine in place lol!!!! I just re routed my loom and ptu and all that so it just looked that little tidyer. Is it really worth all the hassel

Of course its worth the hassle, It will be uncluttered, unlike yours :biggrin:all the rest was easy, its just the fuse box thats hassle but you said was it was easy??

EDIT Car.Mad;;;;; you can get the fuse cover under the headlight panel and you only need to cut 2 wires to do it.

Ohh, It was a terrible job, blood, sweat, tears ,but eventually I got there, the car feels so different without it :alien:

Daz, have you removed the power steering all together?

If you've only removed the HICAS, where is your power steering resevoir?

I pulled my fuse box to pieces and reconstructed it the other side of the hole removing all the excess wires and relays/fuses i didn't need in the V8 conversion. I think i resoldered a couple of wires but did exactly as boldy did with releasing the loom under the wing which worked really well.

I know it's a bit late but useful to know if anyone's thinking of trying it and didn't have to enlarge the hole.

Mounting up under the wing i just reused two holes already there and as the base of the box is curved i used two short pieces of rubber pipe just bigger than the thread and clamped down to raise it up and suspend it.

Worked a treat :)

Thanks for that, been watching your build for a while now, FAB!!! But yes a bit late for me now to put under the wing, all the car is to pieces and i cant move it to get access to that wing , never mind I`m determined to get the box under the headlight panel , cheerZ :thumbup1:

Daz.

Cheers buddy, well i figured you don't really change fuses that often so if that's the case with anything - it's moved out the way :) lol

Mine sits just under the passenger headlight on the main structural beam so just need to make a shield to stop water coming in from the fog ducts i'm installing and job done.

I think i tried a long time ago to get it under the nose panel and it wouldnt' quite reach. I'm sure i read to release the wire along the top of the wing and route it differently to get it through? Possibly jeff said it (we are talking back in 2005/6 though)
