just went to take the Mrs and little one up to mcdonald, heading up the A45 doing 50, next thing you know revs shot up out of the blue boost hit and in the blink of an eye the rear went, corrected the first part, but then the snap back got me and the back end spun out, after a brief moment of facing on coming traffic, i see the central reservation barrier approaching, so turned the wheel to get the rear to take the hit. by this point car had slowed to around 30mph when the rear passenger side took the hit.

Trying to find the camera memory card. but passenger side exhaust is fooked. and the rear passenger side panel has taken damage to the out side panel only. i know it was wet so was taking extra care due to my air filter being out in the mouth of my 99spec bumper. haven't got a clue what i touched on the road but it was like ice. but not cold enough to be ice.

Well looks like I'm going to be doing some body repairs now. or do i see what the insurance say about it? going to go find my memory card now and get some pictures.

:( so glad that no one was hurt. Mrs is a bit shuck up as the little one was in the back. If the car wasn't lowered, would of only been rear bumper damage.

Nice to know that everyone behind me just drove on with out even stopping to see if anyone was OK.

Oh no dude!!!! WTF!! I thought you were posting about your plenum pull or new mods, not a blummin accident, hope everyones ok, and its only a bit of body work bud, soon will be mended, take care out there

main thing is you are all ok.

Any idea what could have caused this? I'm sure you will get it sorted.

New side exit mongoose system, pipes took the damage, rear box is still straight, but pipes have snapped half way around the join

had a look from inside the boot, none of the interior panels are crumpled, this is the view from behind the rear bumper

Slight crumple at the fuel cap.

I have another rear bumper i can put on to get the back end looking slightly reasonable. but looks like I'm going to need a whole new rear quarter panel welding on. luckily i have my breaker to get the bit off i need. only thing is i cant weld to save my life.

Dam dude thats quite bad, hope you can fix it.

Should be able to, whats peed me off though is i wasn't doing anything stupid, i wasn't flooring it, i wasn't racing, i was just driving it along at 50, as its a hill had my foot slightly on the accelerator to so the car wasn't slowing down, but just keeping it at 50. next thing rev needle moved like i had floored it, there was just no grip, then the back end started to move out, so i went to correct with opposite steer. the back came back, id lifted my foot from the accelerator, then the back went the opposite way and spun the car as too much momentum and no grip. got a feeling the stiff suspension doesn't help at all.

Bloody hell mate, youre not having much luck lately with the zed. Glad your all ok, i think the panel can be pulled out and made good if no scructural damage has been done, a workshop who have one of those intelligent repair systems or drill holes, screw and a dent puller. Hope you get it sorted, exhaust tips can be welded, new rear light and bumper, then a spray up, no fun though when you when getting so far down the line to completion.

Good thing though is no one else was involved, speed was low as well, but its such a heavy car that any impact is going to cause dents. shame the panel isn't a bolt off job. cant see there being any structural damage. exhaust / bumper and that tiny area took the brunt of a 30mph collision. got a rear bumper in the garage i got off shrek to go on. so that's good. not sure they would be able to pull that dent matey, hell didn't even damage the central reservation barrier, just left a nice streak of red paint on it.

I have to admit though its one sturdy bloody car if that's all the damage it took. that's my first ever accident as well, but I've come away feeling more confident in the cars ability to protect the occupants, didn't feel the hit just heard it.

Glad you are all okay. Your luck sucks at the mo. Hope it's not too much bother to sort. Good luck.

Well i turned the wheel so the rear quarter panel took the hit. but in hind sight, i should of left it as the side of the car is a bigger area to absorb impact damage, and probably would of got away with just scrape marks. ill get the bumper off tomorrow and have a better inspection of the area of damage, we all know about hidden areas, I've check though and cant see any thing other than the panel damage that's is visible on the out side of the car. even the fuel tank took a hit from the exhaust but that's superficial, it hasn't punctured it. just a small dent. luckily there really isn't that much to the back end of a zed and the chassis starts quite high up the back

I was about to offer you the bumper i got from you.

Let me know if you need it.

Glad your all ok.

I have a black UK rear bumper on my breaker fella your more then welcome to it as well as any other bits if you need em to help get her back on the road. Sorry to see this mate but like you said a car can be fixed its just great that no one was hurt. Give me a list of bits you need if i have em then your welcome to them.

All the best Craig

Jeeez bud glad your all ok !!

Looking at the damage it may need a pull to get everything back where it should be before cutting any panels off , it,s something that should really be done on most medium and heavy bumps , it,s what,s known as reversing the accident , basically you know the quarter probably needs replacing but it,s all the panels this is welded to that need to return to there original position so nothing is under tension , making it far easier to fit a new panel . HTH

any chance i can entice you down matey? would like to get a opinion on it, everything looks straight. only the little crumple near the fuel filler cap. but wont know until i get that rear bumper off.

See what it,s like with the bumper off bud and we,ll take it from there

Glad you are all OK, hope you get it sorted and check to see what caused the revs to rise unexpectedly. Be safe.

If you involve insurance I would say they would write it off, you could buy it back but I think your probably best off fixing yourself

Holy shit mate, that is not cool - oil on the road maybe?

I am pleased to hear that Tess and the littlun are ok - you must be having opposing feeling running through you at the moment - relief that the family are ok but gutted about the car.

I am just about to send you pm dude.

thats a bugger mate. you have no luck with zeds do you :(

What you could do is go wide arch

my feelings at the moment mate are this.

Peed off that it happened at such a low speed when i wasn't pushing her.

Upset that my Mrs and baby boy were in the car as it scared the crap out of my Mrs, didn't effect my little boy though who was safe in his child seat, so glad i put the UK rear seat belts in now instead of the lap belts.

Not sure about the car yet as i don't think it has sunk in properly, when it happened, i didn't freak out, i didn't have the shakes, in fact i was surprised that i didn't really worry too much about it at the time, i remember saying "aah shit" when i knew it was going to hit the barrier, so turned the wheel to minimise the damage down the passenger side were my Mrs and little boy was.

I have a rear brake light from my breaker to go on, but its not going to fit until i get that panel sorted out as the major damage is pushing into the light housing. i have a veilside rear bumper to go on that just needs a respray, i think the only part that will most likely need replacing or some major repair work is the body and the exhaust.

Please mate, not sure if i want to bloody cry, laugh or what at the moment, think shock is finally sinking in.

But yeah, i think my saying of everything on theses cars can be fixed is helping. also been looking over stellaZ post of his M3 so all is not lost to be honest.

If i talk to Lynbrook about it, i can get up to £500 to cover for parts as im willing to fix it my self. just wish i could bloody weld lol
