I've been told the ECU on my Zed has been modified (not sure how exactly) but I want to change it for a standard one.

Is there any differences between ECU's in the newer 300ZX's or can I just simply take one from a series 2 and put it in my 1990?

Reason I'm asking is I have a series 2 sitting for spares so wouldn't have to get another ECU :)

IIRC you can't put a manual in an auto but can the other way around

When an ECU is modified, it means it has been chipped or socketed to accept an aftermarket chip. So your ECU may be mapped to get the best out of the mofifications the car has had done previously.

Replacing with a standard ECU may not be the best move.

You need to either find out what chip and what it was mapped to do, or get it on consult, which will be able to tell you both. HTH

I'm basically wanting to go back down to standard fuelling/Ignition timing so just really need to know if a Series 2 manual ECU will work on a Series 1 manual zed?
