ive betrayed you all!!

most of my mates in my silly little town has hondas, mainly accord type R's

my brother in law who has a civic told me last thing last night that the club meet on saturday (today) was low on numbers and asked if wanted to join them on a dyno run day, i accepted and left 7am this morning,

anyway, at this honda meet there some awsome examples, but none got to the 300bhp mark so i felt pretty smug, mine went on last and it made 297hp and 301, torque bearing in mind it has no performance mods at all exept for back boxe (still has original cats) even standard air box, its pretty good isnt it? i was worried a few gee gee's might of escaped over the last 21 years?

any one else got a good figure with a standard zed?

really? i thought it was 300 manual and 280 auto, whatever it is im chuffed. it ran perfect all day. oh exept for a little puddle of water under it at the meet?? it did scare me a little, think theres a slight leak somwhere, i will have to look into that asap.

it was classed as 300hp in america but we all know they talk out of the arses lol!!!

You should be well chuffed mate. nice strong healthy engine

Nice going mate!!

Always good to see that all the horses are still in the stable; it's a real testament to just how good these cars were right out of the box!!

i see, awsome, its showing 61,000 on the clock, runs in miles now but not sure how many of them are kilometers, so its got tons of life left in her by the sounds of it, (i hope)

it was somthing like 220 hp (i think, will double check) at the wheels, does that sound aboute right too?

?????

im confused, plus i had my figures wrong,

291 @ flywheel

198 @ wheel wtf????

and

292 torque

my torque seems unushally high and the wheel power unushually low??

the rolling road guy said wheel power is all boll***s though as the lower the gear your in the higher the wheel power,so he said to me the flywheel is the true reading you need to watch,

the machine also worked out the drag (whatever the hell that is) if i add the 94.4 drag to the 191 fly power its not far off i suppose/??

will make photo in a sec.

sorry, camera is reallllyyyyy crap

your torque is about right to

Not sure on wheel power. I dont think many dyno tesers know what there doing tbh

Wheel power is your only real indication of the engines output! They guess Flywheel power. To be honest 191 at the wheels seems a bit low! Mine made 260 at the wheels when it was dynoed although it did have an exhaust and filter at the time.

yes but if mine was driven in second it would had alot more wheel power as there would of been less drag, so as far as i can see its very inacurate to compare with other people as you wouldent know what gear they tested it in, thats what i can gather anyway?

Thats why all cars should always be ran in the gear that is or closest to 1:1 ratio, which happens to be 4th gear on a Manual TT.

Dyno's measure wheel power (or hub power), they then "estimate" flywheel hp based on the wheel power they have, either through generic calculations or my measuring drag, neither of which is accurate becuase there are not set calculation rules and friction(drag) is increased by load (and load on a coasting deceleration is nothing like the load when accelerating)
