Tempted by another.......

.....daily drive that is!!

I had (tentatively) been thinking about a new daily driver recently; and after a hectic week I took a peek at MB's "approved used" 'site yesterday.

And by chance I found the one for me!!

Palladium silver; 3.5 litres and 305bhp; 0-62 in 5.4 secs....

...plus every conceivable extra including COMMAND multi-media with navigation/CD changer/DAB radio; heated nappa leather; bi-xenons; 7-speed tip with paddle-shift and the AMG sport suspension/wheel pack:drool:

Plus I got 2 years free servicing, 6 months tax and an extended warranty for when the manufacturers one expires!

It's miles away from me though; however a quick call to a friend of mine who is a car broker and it's very soon going to be on my drive....:tt1:

......just got to sort my cherished number transfer. I can't wait; I'm just like a child on Christmas eve!!!

Thanks guys and gals.....

very very nice, i really like those and it looks like it can shift

I hope so Allan!! My black one is "only" 276bhp and that flies - I'd guess that up to 70-ish it would probably just have my ZX. Although from 70+ when the tubbies are on song, the ZX does feel like it has more than just the edge....(on a track, of course)....

PS anyone interested in a nice black SLK350.........:

LOL - maybe mate; but there's only two of us so I don't have any need (or desire) for a saloon car; no matter how good!!

Plus I do like the occasional bit of open top motoring and TBH most "convertibles" are just that - a hard top with the roof cut off. This was purposly built as an open top; and that metal foldy thing is way better than a leaky tent.......:whistling:

Nice but no thanks Dave - whilst they are certainly fun, I like the comfort as well!

I do like the new Z4 with the metal roof though; but Julia is not keen on me becoming a BMW driver for some reason. Plus I'd rather have the relaxed n/a V6 of the Merc compared to the twin tubby straight 6 of the Beemer. I've already got one twin turbo car, after all.....

.....I did look at the Boxster a few years back; but again it's got a canvas roof and there's no room for luggage. I can get 2 decent size suitcases in the boot of the SLK - perfect for holidays if I don't take the ZX!!

Taking over funky si's forum spot with the ascerbic comments there eh?:devil: lol

Looks nice! So is this an SLK350 as well? Being 3.5litres but more powerful than your old one? Is it just in a higher state of tune?

Tell you what would be nice Richard. Not having to wax another black car everytime its washed

Yup - it is another 350. In 2008/9 MB revamped the engines a bit; the 3.5 v6 had its power upped to 305bhp but also the economy improved and the emmissions went down.....

......so I'll not have to suffer the £405 road tax next year! The new one will only cost £215 to tax - result!!

Exactly mate!! The obsidian black is a superb colour; but boy is it high maitenance. However I did find that once polished, a top coat of Turtle Wax Platinum Extra Gloss sealed in the shine and stopped all the cud from sticking to the paint for weeks. It also helped it wash up nicely without the need for a waxing too often!! I highly recommend it for black cars Dave....:punk:

There is so much stuff on it now the paint feels like plastic if you know what i mean :w00t:

Very nice Richard, I test drove a few of these as Sarah was deciding between a new mini coop or a 2nd hand slk, I too thought they looked very girly but when you drive them they feel big and `SL` like, yours just looks like a mini SLR!!!

Sarah chose the cooper by the way a she fell in love with the looks of the mini
