My insurance company want me to produce a alarm install certificate so I'm covered for theft. they will only cover it for theft if i have the certificate to say it was installed by a qualified fitter. now I've been through all the paper work i have but i have no install certificate.

 

As its a Clifford alarm can i take it to a Clifford alarm certified engineer and get him to give it a once over to make sure its installed correctly and get a new one? Don't really like the idea of not being insured for theft.

Yes mate, take to an alarm fitter and get them to certify it, i had to do the same with mine.

Did mine on my alfa a few years back was about £35 took him just less then an hour.

On both my cars i had to produce a certificate although both were fitted by a fitter.

Still think its over the top to have to produce certificates because we all know what insurance companys are like when it comes to paying out !!

aren't you 'supoposed' to have it done every year for the insurance? sure i heard that somewhere....

That's what i did with mine too. Took it to a local garage so they could confirm the alarm type. They gave me a letter on letter headed paper to send to the insurance company and they were fine with that :)

what model clifford is it . ive got a cert for mine and im thinking photo copier

Motorguard uk are still the major supplier for clifford i think and have mobile engineer's in various area's might be worth a look up and call

had the same thing was a right fart. got a local car alrum fitter to write out a certificate, had no tax or mot and the guy moaned like buggery cos my drive is narrow the zed is low and he were a fat knacker

Its the clifford concept 650, and i have to say, i love it. full closure with windows that do them selves up when you remote central lock it, just like my 406 did. love that function. not sure if the boot releases on the remote, I've tried it but nout happened, there is something connected to the boot release inside the boot and a solenoid but not sure if that's just something to say the boots been opened the alarm is active, OK scream ya lungs out..

i took mine to a local car electronics place who are qualified to certify alarm installs - they produced a certificate for me when my insurance asked for proof. I've only been asked the once though... :confused:

thats a point my insurer just said as long as i have the certificate then thats ok but did not want me to send it off?
