Main fan on water pump

Hi guy's the main fan attached to the water pump, on starting the engine it spins very fast for the first minute or two then slows down never noticed it before, seems a bit stiff to rotate, just wondering if it's the norm?

Been toying with the idea of fitting a big kenlowe fan anybody already gone down this route?????

That's normal.

I wouldn't replace the main fan with some electric fan (if that's what you mean)...many people have tried it before and most have put the original fan back again, due to overheating problems. (esp. in the summer)
