Hi guys. well ive finally got another z!! :cool3:

Its not perfect but its in good nick. Problem is there is rust bubbles on the osr arch. now it was repaired by zedworld 2 years ago. So someone has told me its going to keep coming back!! A painter i know has said he could do a temporary repair for £200. but it may last 6 months it may last a year!! Problem is ive started noticing a few paint mismatches all over the car

So my question is, how much roughly fo a repair and full respay cost? not talking about bare metal as i know that could be anything upto 5k!!

Cheers in advance

Accepted.... the bit you can see on the outside is only slight.

Its what lies hidden that will be much more extensive.

There are plenty of threads on this forum now to look at to show the extent of rust is now attacking the Z32.

Many members are now moving into proper restoration to keep the cars in top nick.

as pete said, i bought my new shell as relativly rust free and is now about 8 months into a full bare metal restoration. im sure that if i were paying for the work it would be over 10K

Any bits that have rusted really need cutting out and replacing, once metal has started to rust you will never really stop it. if you accept this fact then you are left with two choices make do/patch job or full on restoration/baremetal respray. a good paint job over the existing problems will put you back where you are now in a year or two.

its a hard decission particually if you are picky over bodywork condition. i would suggest you spend the couple of hundred quid getting it somewhere near where you are happy and enjoy the car

i learned the hard way mate.

What lies beneath is the real problem, not whats on the surface. If you have any rust atall you want to have it cut out and fully repaired, undersealed etc.

Yeah poor old craig used to own the zedtanic! looked like it had been in salt water its whole life. Thing is from the outside it looked fine.

I have done mine properly, I had a couple of small bubbles on one arch but ended up going bare metal for most of the car.

Thing is though its a keeper so I wanted it done properly http://www.project300tt.com/2010/01/12/respray-progress/

My last car like a lot of uk cars had some rust issues and in the end its became a tin can.

Made the hard choice of starting again but with a immaculate late car.

Probably works out cheeper in the long run.
