liek above. my car never smokes on idle apart from the morning when its a bit steamy looking.

I have noticed that when i decelerate in second gear and start to apply a tiny bit of throttle again i get some blue ish smoke puff out the back. but on hard acceeleration its not there.

Is it unburnt fuel because my car does smell of fuel from the exhausts?

but why only on deceleration followed by light blip on the throttle? Never any other time or on deceleration followed by heavy blip on throttle

well my mileage reads 78k

if mine is left idle for a few minutes then you rev it, it blows out loads of blue smoke, i belive it to be the pcv's? (i think thats what there called) maby you have a similar problem with the pcv's? however once mine is on the road and driving it dosent smoke at all.

mine doesn;t tried that. left it for 10 mins at idle after getting home and revved it.. nothing.

only when decelerating followed by a blip on throttle. if i decelerate and then pull hard agin i get nothing too. Compression test only recently done before manual conversion and was all ok.

my car does overfuel alot and so it must be related

i cant tell 100% what colour it is. need someone behind me next time :)

may be different problem then?

turbos is most likley culprit

I'm in Chelmsford too so can drive behind you and check it out if you like. As above I always thought blue mean't turbos :(

I had this on my 300 matey, and it was the piston rings on 2 cylinders. Compression test looked good too, until i carried put a wet comp test......

I fear the worst for ya buddy, sounds like rings to me, sorry.

No he hasn`t, just a conversion. Starting to sound like a good idea though...

great.... just forked alot of money on conversion to find my car is pretty much dying...

cant afford to pay until atleast 2011 end so it better bloody last!

^^^^^^^ Just as Alan says, usually the over run smoke problem is piston related and a compression test wont always prove this.

whats over run?

ive been looking at youtube videos and everyone else who has piston rings and turbo probs have blue smoke all the time and worse on acceleration.

mine only does it even i rev down then slightly blip throttle. the sound sounds like something dumped when it happens and stinks of fuel.

If i slow down using second then rev hard i get no smoke what-so ever. smells of fuel most of the time but no other times i get blue ish smoke.

Absolutely sure its not dumped/unburnt fuel seeing how my car is overfueling?

this car HAS to last 2 years befoore i spend on the engine. to be honest i would be very angry at Carl who did work for MJP because he told me Mike came down and tested the car and it was absolutely fine.

Only warnings i got from carl that came from MJP was that my Right O2 sensor is lazy when cold and i have code 34.

Usually its valve guides / seals if you see blue smoke on decel.

Piston rings if you see smoke on acceleration.

isnt that correct?

could be tubby seals when you decelerate the zaust gas pulls against the oil seal and if they are worn the suck out oil and you get smoke

could be tubby seals when you decelerate the zaust gas pulls against the oil seal and if they are worn the suck out oil and you get smoke

that was one of my initial thoughts. it wont do it on hard acceleration because the higher boost pressure reseals it...

over run - when you accelerate through a gear the engine is driving the rear wheels... if you then come off the throttle, whilst still in gear with the clutch up, the wheels are then driving the engine because of the momentum and inertia of the cars forward (or reverse!) speed. the engine, with no throttle input, is trying to settle back down to idle speed causing a resistance, 'engine braking'.

as jimmer said, even a compression test wont always prove an over run smoke issue so as far as they were concerned it was probably hunky doorey. did you ask them to investigate a smoke issue or has it only recently started?

you really need to be sure on the colour of the smoke because you could be barking up the wrong tree... a faulty o2 sensor could cause fuel issues which in turn could be evident with black smoke.

Ill get santa or tompei to follow me this week to see. Ill post back my findings and get one of them to video using my phone when it happens

Before jimmer rebuilt my engine, i had blue smoke on over-run. This problem can last a very long time, just gets a tad embarrassing when you get to a point where the car in your rear view mirror is "smoked out".....
