WTF...!!??!

i just tried to get an insurance quote for a non-turbo Zed i was thinking of buying, and the insurance quote was double what i pay for my twin turbo???

i own a 1990 jap spec TT auto,im 21 and i pay 1500 for its insurance, after someone stole my last Zed...

but though i know ill get a non turbo fairly cheap to buy, cheaper to run as a daily drive, thought it would be cheaper to insure... but they want just under 4K to insure it...!!! and that was the cheapest...

how the hell am i more likely to crash / cause an accident in a manual n/a with 230bhp, then in an auto TT with declared 350bhp......

nothing else has changed, they both have cat 1 alarms, they both are imports, both LWB, and i always though auto were more to insure....

sorry rant over but i had to vent my confusion and anger somewhere...

We had a similar problem when we were changing my wife's car. There was an overlap period of about a month when we had three cars to insure. Her insurers initially would not allow her to use her No Claims Bonus on both cars however, because she had been a claim free driver on my policy for many years, they took that into consideration and reduced her premium accordingly.

If you have been a claim free named driver on anyone else's policy then it maybe worth a go. Our insurers at the time were Direct Line, they did it, although they wouldn't cover my TT for theft hence my move to Post Office Insurance!

Hope this helps, good luck.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Mine is £520 fully comp with a 25yo named driver on it INCLUDING specified mods with Admiral. I could not be arsed to deal with Police saying your insurance is crap because blah blah blah is fitted to the car so I have a bodykit, exhaust, and aftermarket alloys specified on it. I doubt if PC plod will be able to proove anything else on the side of the road mechanically. Adding the mods on was only another £32.

I'm 23, and i pay £750 with admiral, on a 1990 japspec manual TT. only declared the rims. but thats fully comp with protected no claims.
