Paying with hard earned cash for lazy work is insulting to the person paying but some garages seem to consistently get away with it.

Case in point, a zed in at the moment having had a replacement engine recently at a garage that advertises on ebay.

Following the fitting and collection the car broke down ( over heated ) on the return journey and so went back for more work.

The car was collected again and ran but in the loosest of terms, as the car was used more it got worse, the owner had another garage look at it and they found many air and boost leaks, correcting as many as they could find the engine ran much better.

But oil and steering leaks made the owner take another look and he discovered the engine supplier / fitters had not connected the oil cooler supply pipes to the engine at all (linked out) having used the engine oil cooler for the autobox...very clean eh?

So he added a separate cooler to sort that out, the engine supplier was again contacted and their reply was it was an import engine and they did not have the facility for the oil cooler ????????????

So with further running issues and the engine supplier not playing ball we were contacted and so sent the recovery truck to go get it.

The photo`t below are just a sample of what we have found and have to correct, but added together tell a sad story.

With missing gearbox bolts, missing engine to bell housing brackets, missing oil pipes, missing pipe brackets, wrongly fitted vacuum pipes, blanked pipes, timing issue, wrong dipstick fitted, overfilled, damaged ancillary belts the list goes on and on, but the front anti roll bar drop link been disconnected beggars belief.

So a few days of correcting the issue should see what actually seems to be a fairly good engine that was just fitted poorly running correctly as it should have been in the first place...oh and the real pi?? take was the cost??? over

2K!!! jeeezzzzzz!

Be careful out there.

i second that!!

theres school boy errors and theres complete incompitance

neither of which are exceptable!

very very sad to see this, i took mine to an authorised nissan garage and well the work wasnt to standard to say the least, people should realise these are high prefromance supercars and only people who know what there doing should service them, please people do your homework on finding a good garage to service your zed and not end up paying £££ for very poor work as jeff has pointed out

Good grief!!

This is why I only entrust my ZX to the experts when it comes to anything other than a basic oil and filter change!!

wow wow wow, not just no knowledge of the car, but complete and utter corner cutting and sheer drastic bodgery. Unbelieveable they could send a car back to it's owner knowing full well the state it's in. Criminal :2guns: :2guns: :2guns: :2guns: :2guns: :hang:

Cheers Jeff

nowhere near me so will not be making that mistake

really good of you to tell us. I think i could have done a better job blindfolded with one arm behind my back and i'm not a mechanic.Garages or so called mechanics who turn out work like that should be named and shamed and finally shot:2guns::2guns::2guns::2guns::hammer::hammer::hammer:

Thats shocking, the cas position is awful, probaly 30 degrees btdc, car must have detted to hell like that.

Yes well noticed, given the o/s turbo actuator pipe was wrongly installed the turbo was unrestricted.... a recipe for disaster, lucky the massive boost leaks prevented that happening.

I realise we have to be careful, and all is not black and white. But there must be a way, legally that we as responsible club members can protect ourselves and others from this sort of bad workmanship. I ask the committee....Is there anyway we can have some sort of rating system for garages on here from members experiences. We do not have to say things about the garage that will lead the club or an individual down a lible path, but we will know what the ratings mean and give us the heads up in the future.?

Good point (sonic006), to prevent any allegations of slander maybe the committee would allow a list of recommended specialists? Then members can assume that any garage not listed should be avoided.

OMFG !!!!!!!!! NOW THAT,S SCARY ,

Is this that jap engine supplier at Derby that offers a fitting service ??

Excellent words matey, very excellent words. This is what we need as a club to protect members and users alike. If this was in place several years ago, i would be, and i can assume many others would be, in a more comfortable situation, if you know what i mean.

Al.

OK, how about a longitude and latitude then cuz Derby is a big place!
