ok so after disconnecting TPS and reconnecting it the car ran great all the way to work. Even when driving to shops at break it was fine.

Coming out of work at 11pm i turn the car on and the revs kept hunting up and down. tried the TPS disconnect again but the car stalled. Started her up again and decided to drive gently. Felt like missing alot and by the time i got round the corner i decided it just wasn't right.

Pulled over and tried disconnect TPS again and the revs seemed to idle normally but with a bit of missing. Now when i tried to go the car kept getting to 2k and jolting back and forth between 1500 and 2000 rpm and wouldnt really go alot.

I thought it would be maf but if i revved fast i could rev past 2k but if i revs slowly the car would not go past 2k revs at all.

everntuall i tap;ped everything i could, including trying to push PTU connectors in more and started her up. Seemed to be fine and i could eventually drive home without fault..

Now what the hell is happening to my car lol :(

TBH mate just take it back to Darren to sort.

The work he's done may or may not be related to all the various problems you have had since getting it back, BUT, would have thought all the usual things may have been checked over and conzulted to ensure alls okay before being collected.

You can of course do an ECU diagnostic yourself in 10 mins to bring up the error codes and I would hazard a guess the 1st thing Darren would do when you bring it back is conzult it anyway, so same thing really but it might give you peace of mind.

Either way, get it back to the garage for looking at.

done it again this morning :(

odd how the car sounds like its missing too on startup and revs moving. Disconnected TPS plug and the car ran at 1100 rpms but smooth with no missing. Put TPS connector back on and its missing.

Also if the TPS plug is undone i can rev past 2000rpms but if its plugged in again it wont rev past 2000rpm.

In the end it sorted itself out again but its annoying as it does it on every cold start.

WIll be ringing Darren back today but have noticed my car has code 34 too. I gave darren new sensor harness to fit so can only imagine its my sensor on top of the main gripe im having

are you disconnecting the TPS or the idle control switch which is another connection on the TPS (at the bottom)

  • Author

The bottom one. the top one makes no difference to the engine

just got off phone to darren who said that the air control one at the back was causing car to idle at 2.2 and he disconnected it and it ran ok. he connected it up again later i think he said.

Do you reckon its a mixture of TPS and the one at the back?

anything else i can try ? Darren said he can spare an hour today trying to fiddle

Its definately my TPs as its smoother and revs properly with both tps connectors off

I believe a new one is around £40 so I'd change it if I was you, cheaper than puting it back into a garage ;)

Mate; Smithy's first few words are the most important.

Unless all of your car's faults have suddenly materialized in the last day or two since getting your car back, they must have been present or latent all along. My view - no disrespect to Darren - is that any bad running issues that were present, should have been identified whilst your car was in for repair.

You've paid out a few £££s by the sound of it; so if it were my money I'd want value for it!

Good luck buddy,

Richard:yes:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
