get a drift to fit inside the ring a nice a easy fit..then fill the centre with grease and put the drift into hole and hit it with a hammer. If your lucky the wonders of hydrolics will force it out but watch your face and eyes doing it.Failing that hold the ring in a vice and pull the engine off it with a landrover:w00t:

I cut two grooves in the side of the ring on opposite sides with a 1mm cutting disc. That then gave somewhere for a cold chisel to bite on.

A few careful blows with a Birmingham screwdriver on alternate sides and out it came.

I just used a chisel without touching the crank of course and it came out easily .

Cheers Guys.

I haven't got a drift but have cutting discs and plenty of club hammers and chisels!

Time to get banging tomorrow then!!

Just chisel it from the side several times mate and it will start to shift trust me.Done these several times this way and never failed.I do have a bearing puller if youd rather user it.can post it down if you like mate with that shipment of liquid gold you wanted

^^^ as above, chisel edge.

Then you will need to replace it with a manual spigot bush.

mine was rusty and very soild, have to drill a small hole in it, the got progressively bigger, then caved it in with a chisel, mine was a nightmare!

Its done now but this might be handy for some one else

get a bolt that just fits inside the spigot, grind a flat on the end of the bolt, the end with the head on it, round the other side of the head so it will tuck in at the back of the spigot, slip in a spacer so the bolt is trapped tight in the spigot slip over a big socket or tube, washer on end put nut on bolt and pull out.

If you have a good puller with fine jaws you can grind in slots and use that too.
