Not a new thing but a clear case of reduced water flow though this particular lower hose.

The cause of this in the main is the internal structure of the pipe has failed, made worse in this case by low water level causing an increased vacuum when the engine is switch off after a run.

An easy thing to be blissfully aware of but potential to ruin your day of course, another one of those things to add to your list of must do`s.

blimey, could that be due to the bracket not being in place under the rad?

You would of thought they would of fitted a silicone pipe when they fitted the rad :wack:

I have seen this happen quite a few times, also have seen the silicone version of the lower radpipe collapse like that...

IMHO, best solution is a SS/alluminum lower radpipe

Agreed. I fitted a nice big section of S/Steel pipe with a 90 degree mandrel bend in it. Aids in cooling too as the metal passes the heat through quite quickly compared to rubber or silicon.

That should be fine. The bottom hose is huge so you can replace quite a bit of it.

a bit worrying. i went out to my car today and the bottom hose was like this. i removed the rad cap but water level was ok. once rad cap was removed the hose went back to normal. i have nearly new silicone hoses though so im sure its not an issue there?

buggered rad cap matey?
