As we all know, having glow dials stuck over the originals, the low fuel light does not shine through one bit :cursing: The orange capped bulb did work as I have seen it light up when I had the clocks out.

Now, with me having an aftermarket steering wheel I have no need for the red Airbag light in the centre.

I also know that another relocation for low fuel indication is the bottom left corner somewhere, but I have, yes you have guessed it, used the Airbag light

The wires just don't reach so with a little extension I have just touched or trapped the two under the bulb holder.

After about 20 more miles, the new 'low fuel light' come on, the next 15 or so miles the light kept coming on and then off during journeys.

The next 20 miles it was on all the time, I was half expecting it but was still a little surprised when I did in fact run out :cursing: thought I might get another 10 mainly motorway miles out of it as I was driving light footed for a while.

I have since filled up and of course the fuel light never comes on at all as I am half full :cool3:

It seems I have done it correctly, but tell me peoples please, is what I describe with the fuel light coming on and off and eventually running out consistent with yours?

Yeah they all do that, mine gains or looses up to 1/4 of a tank in an enthusiastic bend! The fuel level sensors are fairly crude I think and so the fuel level is an aproximation. Don't let the light come on though, Its been on once in my car (when the previous owner dropped it off!) I hate letting old cars get right down to the wire, you never know how much shit is in that tank!

I always run mine down to empty so each refill is nice fresh fuel; never had a problem with that.....:whistling:

.......true, whilst you don't know how much crap has accumulated in the tank but that's why there is a fuel filter under the bonnet!!

Nice work on the re-location of the light though Phutumsh!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Exactally!!

You should never let your fuel tank run below a quarter full unless it's urgent. My having the extra liquid, it stops the crap from settling in one place. :yinyang:

What fuel warning light?

Never seen it, as others have said I really don't like letting it getting that low because of the crap that's probably in there after 16 years.
