I was just thinking the same thing and trying to work the years out :confused1:

its not a 1998, thats wrong.

A ha not to up to speed on the English reg so its not 98 then probably imported in 98 and is m reg 95

Not totally unmolested with that boot spoiler either.

I have seen this alot on autotrader, its either the year the car was imported and people made a mistake. Or its on a private plate, get it alot of with M3's and M5's as people always buy M3 XXX plates or M5 XXX plates, so you get a "2002 M reg" as its a 2002 car with an "m" registration.

You'd have to be a proper thicko to think that a 2002 BMW is actually an M reg, think thats a bit extreme as an example but I see where you are coming from :tt2:

 

When I used to work at a garage I had several people ring up and said they had a. 'F' reg blah blah... when they gave the registration it was FV09... :lol:

Got a strange steering wheel and Cruise Control Pod

 

Cruise Control still showing on the pod, Cruise Control steering wheel without the buttons. If it was a geniune 98 car it would have an airbag steering wheel and no Cruise control on the pod

Thats the point though, at that time that 2002 is actually on an M registration. Registrations are not fixed to a vehicle, even though its MY2002 (possibly even 2003 knowing bmw as their model years start around August ;) ) so Build 2002 for example, registered on an M... I do admit though you do get some stupidity when it comes to as you said FV09... My lasses grandmother is convinced my van is on an S plate, as its SB09... Yet her suzuki swift on a 57 shes happy that its a 2007 car... LOL Old people eh, who'd have em!
