ok a bit of a tuning question...

 

I'm currently running a pair of 2.5" split/divorced downpipes which are supposed to help turbo spool up by allowing exhaust gas to exit faster.

 

I'm upgrading my exhaust to a 3" system all the way through and have put in an order for a pair of matching 3" split downpipes from the same manufacturer as the exhaust.

 

However I've been offered a pair of AMS 3" expansion downpipes which are a bit cheaper (makes no difference) but are also supposed to help make bigger power by their special 'expansion' design, whatever that is...

 

So my question is, which to go for - split downpipes from same manufacturer as rest of zorst, or AMS (non-split) expansion downpipes?

no this is the first time ive asked, although ive asked the same question to the chap at Z1 who recommended the AMS ones. let's see what he says.

 

do you have standard turbos or upgraded ones ?

 

they're stock 4-bolt but upgraded to 360 degree thrust bearing.

bit of overkill on basically standard turbos, but I've installed a few sets of the "Alloy ToyZ" expansion pipes (I think these are the same as AMS) and quality/fitment is decent.

ok the chap has got back to me and said that the AMS ones are split design as well - I searched the internets and all the pics I could find were a 'single' design like stock, albeit I couldn't find any 300zx ones :o

I'll give these a try and see how they are.

thanks Lymon - i didnt think to look on their website :o :o cool at least i know theyre split now (and ive just saved myself about $200 going with these AMS/SZ ones)
