apart from the obvious, are there any visual external differences between a tt block and an na block. so that if they were sat out of teh car stripped down. for example an engine production number stamped on the block?

engine serial number stamped on rear of block drivers side if in car very hard to see though.

would it have a set serial code to it for example vgtt123456 or vgna1234565 for exapm;e to show the block type or would you have to find out from nissan what that block was designated to

you can't determine from the engine serial number if the engine is TT or NA as both start with VG30xxxxxx

if it still has the oilpan: TT oilpan has 3 extra pipe-connections...NA has none

the NA-heads have 30P stamped on the side, TT's have 40P or 48P

What makes you think you have an NA engine in your engine bay? Unless its terribly slow then that'd be an NA... I assume it has the 4 intake pipes of a TT and some turbos otherwise you wouldnt be asking this question?

oi na's are not slow!

Haha, well slower then. Hell the rate of knots at which I caught one down a slip road a couple of years ago was scary. I thought it had stopped!

well the reason im suspect is because there was no lines for the oil cooler in my engine bay. an the car has never boosted properly since this engine was fitted. im probally just being paranoid but the monkeys that put that engine in i wouldnt be surprised it a na block hadnt been bolted upto turbo parts. im really looking for a way to be able to check the block in situe to coem to a definate answer. its not desperate as the car is going to zedworld nxt week for a major overhaul

I always thought that the engine codes were different.

VG30DE = N/A

VG30DETT = TT

no?

I dont think that those codes are actually on the engine though shrek. Obviously the blocks are essentially the same IIRC, certainly visually. What this chap is wondering is if he has an NA block, crank, pistons etc with tt heads, manifolds and turbos etc. No real easy way to tell I suppose.

You could check the injectors to see if they are NA or TT articles (but then you dont know if your original TT injectors were swapped over, or they swapped the na injectors into a TT head etc). But to be honest if its going to zedworld very soon and you suspect it really is that bad then dont drive it unless you have to and stay off bost and I suppose no huge harm will be done.

yeh i looked at the injectors look like series 1 tt injectors but as you say they would probally have been transfered over. im just beinga suspicious allocious because of my boost issues the poor instalation and the lack of provision for oil cooler. guess it will all get sorted out when zedworld get there talanted hands on it. monday :)

the TT oil tree where the filter is should have more pipes due to the oil cooler IIRC than the NA
