got a quote in rayleigh to sand my plenum in the places i cant reach with a bead blaster. Said he will do it for £20 however looking at the web gives me mixed results.

Moost places say Bead blasting wont smooth any areas as it is not harsh enough :(

can anyone comment if this is true or not and wether there is any other thing i can do or pay for to do the smoothing of the plenum ready for me to polish?

Dont think that would be harsh enough. I got all my lips down with a dremel although I killed my first dremel but B&Q where kind enough to give me another.

i have a dremel and a dremel sanding kit but the sanding rolls dont stay on the sanding barrels :( which makes it impossible to sand.

i have had quotes from shot blasting and bead blasting but im aware that i should avoid sand blasting on the plenum. Hoping Bead blasting will take down the pits in the gaps of the chambers :(

Sand Blasting WONT smooth a plenum. I tried it on mine and all it did was give it a nice clean.

Are you tightening the little screw up on the top that makes the rubber expand to grip the sanding roll. Mine stayed on but they dont last long. Using a low speed helps them last longer.

I bead blasted a plenum a while back - pics are here As above, it doesn't smooth or polish it, but puts it back to "factory condition"

whooops!

I find a dremel absolutely useless for doing anything:thumbdown:

Mine was a godsend although you do need the longer attachment, I did kill one but it must have been faulty

Im using my big drill. Since getting sanding drums working ive takled most of the plenum in the last few.hours. not doing underneath or too much detail at the back as i need it done by friday. Just gotta go through the grades now
