Having the install in the boot had its advantages too, i'm going to slot the alarm box &

the jumble of wires it comes with in the cavity next to the antenna motor, plenty of room !

First off I bought a servo to unlock the boot which you can see in the pick below, its

not fully fitted yet as i'm missing a relay to activate it from the alarm but I should have

that in the post by tuesday.

I also tapped into the indicator lights from the back rather than atacking the cables in

the control pods which seems to happen on most alarm installs i've seen.

Lastly before it got too dark I snapped a pic of the freshly built today interior !

By the time I finally fitted the back bumper it was pitch black outside so

these are the best shots of the bumper back on.

The shine of the new bumber really shows so i'm going to have to give the

car a good hose down and wash tommorow so that is doesn't look as bad.

Too late and dark to start on the front so will leave that for now :

Fantastic shine on the kit mate. Black is a bugger to match up. Its near impossible. Ive had black cars for 7 years and never managed to match it up lol!!

Lee, been watching this thread as it progresses. you have done what im planning on mine. i have the rear bumper of my spare zed. and saving for the 99 front and spolier. what colour black have you gone, is it KH3 or something else

must see pics of the 99 front and spoiler when its done.

Front bumper time !

The old veilside bumper came off fairly easy however I think its a scrapper as

the bottom part is missing and theres a few splits at each end.

43.jpg

After the bumper was off I had a wee look at the cabling situation for the front

fogs and side lights, it seems the original loom was butchered to fit on the other

bumper, also i've got a fault with the side lights as at the moment they wont

power up. I originally thought this was because of the bad wiring but after I put

everying back on to test they still wont work.

44.jpg

Having spare plugs I decided to do a proper patch job and I resoldered and heat

shrunk some tubing over the cables to protect them.

I see that there is three cables going into the side lights and front fogs, can any

body tell me what the dual purpose is for ?

45.jpg

I decided to carry on for now and refit the lamp holders.

46.jpg

then pop the bumper back on.

It started to pour down again at this point so i never managed to refit the front fogs

and side lights, they dont seem to work anyways.

What does work is a side light bulb which is part of the front fogs and this turns on when

the side lights are suppose to be on. Other than that I have no real side lights or fogs.

I've checked all the fuses and they all seem to be fine, could it be a faulty relay ?

Yes, its KH3, but it looks hell of a more shiny than the rest of the car.

Righty O !

Its cluster time, today i stripped out my old silver zeds indiglow dials and put them in

the new black zed, so why did i just not change the full cluster over I hear you say !

Well, Nissan decided to change the cluster in the series 4 which the black z is so the

cluster from the series two wont fit, there physically different on the back and inside.

Heres a shot of the series 2 cluster.

49.jpg

And here is the series 4 cluster.

50.jpg

Spot the differances ?

The indiglow dials were stuck down with double sided tape to the originals so easiest

way i could think to get them apart was running them under boiling water for a few

minutes which worked great.

Below is the series 4 cluster with the indiglow fitted, i had to mod the oil guage to get it

all to fit properly but they do fit eventually, i just trimmed down the overlay very carefully

as not to damage to out circuit on them which powers them up.

51.jpg

Heres the front part re attached before I put the case back on - looking good so far !

52.jpg

And heres with the front put on too

53.jpg

When fitting these back into the car I actually had to take the face off again then try

to calibrate the dials again - luckily i've got a consult cable to see the actual guage

readouts from the ecu.

Great work Lee. I'm watching you progress with interest mate. :cool3::cool3:

Hi Lee, the three wires in the plug are for the side light and fog feed, they share the same ground, black wire and the 2 stripe wires are the feeds. You may already know this lol, but the sidelights should come on also when you depress the fog switch.

Dropped off both of my zeds tonight to the garage of my mate duncan !

Work to be done while they are both there is :

swap exhausts

swap over water pipes and install new temp stat

swap the nice shiny plennum

swap over anything else shiny - i luv the shiny stuff

Not sure how long they will be both there so looks like i'm zedless for a while.

I couldn't get time off so my brothers helping out do the work - i'll get him to

update us all with the work being done - just hope hes an ok shot with a camera.

I'll post pics up as the come in.
