when i took the wheels off I had the opertunity to take the screws out for the skirts.

scared of what i was going to find i slowly gripped the skirts and lifted it off to reveal :

nothing, lol, perfect body work all round - what thinking the kit was hiding a nasty surprise but all was ok

It started pouring down so packed up what tools I had out before I was totally drenched

and will continue again when the weathers a bit better.

Day two of the new zed project and thankfully the weathers good.

So cracking on I started to replace the other two wheels round from the silver zed.

When i bought this last week it was thought that the split rims had a leak and that

one of the tyres needed pumped up every few days; well taking off the suspect wheel

i discovered the real issue - would you believe i traveled over 350 miles with this stuck in.

Anyways afer footering about with the other side of the vailside skirt this is what she looks

like from the other side, perfectly legal again to drive with half decent alloys on her.

Next job starting shortly will be to start stripping out the interior - and i mean all of it !

till then !

I changed over the steering wheel today, going from a stock airbag model to a momo

Took a bit of effort to get the stock one off; done all the usual safety stuff first like

disconnected the battery and popped the cover of the connections under the wheel

and disconnected it there two just incase it blew whilst i was doing it.

I took the momo out of the old zed and then noticed that the horn assemble differs

and that I needed the white part that holds the indicators round swapped too, and

all because of the wee springy metal tab that needs to touch the mobo wheel.

Anyways heres the pic of the silver zed minus the momo :

And the momo fitted tempory to the black zed :

I said tempory fitted because i'm planning to strip down the interior still

and didn't think it was worth assembling everything again.

I also was planning to do an upgrade of the aircon ecu and pod but on removal

of the pods on both zeds I discovered that the connection from the loom differs too.

I thought this was a straight pod swap and ecu upgrade of the aircon to get the new

type digital aircon but i guess not on my 96 model.

Maybe somebody can advise me on this as I would like to have the digital aircon back.

Below is the normal pod from the black zed :

Below is the electronic pod from the silver zed :

Spot the differance in the connection block !

You would need the loom for the digital aircon, there are more wires than on the manual pod.

Had some spare time today so I thought I would start the strip down of the interior.

I'm installing a new carpet shortly from the silver zed {when its stripped} so everything

had to come out, seats, stereo, pods, guages and finally the dash.

Before I fit the new carpet i'm going to redo the cabling for the antenna and rear lights,

also will fit a few upgrades ready for installing a rear amp and so on.

Here she is stripped down - a naked lady !

Next was to work on the lights, the black zed had to old style indicators and the ones

i wanted where on the silver zed - shiny new 99 style !

It was a complete bugger getting them all off as they were properly sealed on with the

same stuff that I was about to use to switch them over and reseal them - black glue.

After an hour tugging they all came off; spent the next one cleaning all the old gunk off

before finally adding some of my own gunk to them to seal them off.

Much better looking !

After seeing the post about the hawk alarm I decided to hold off with the interior of the

black zed untill my new alarm comes - hopefully it should be easier to install and neater

since the cables can be hidden better.

Also bought a new shifter from Daves_Zed so fairly looking forward to fiting that too.

If all goes well over the weekend I should have the silver zeds bumpers off ready for a

respray; also looking at fitting cruise - gonna need that for the trip to JAE in a few weeks.

Exactly.....pull the finger oot! I aint making the trip to JAE by myself, mister! :p

Done some more stuff on my two zeds today since it was nice weather.

The silver zed has 99 spec bumpers and spoiler which I would like on the

black zed so for starters off with them both !

I went up to the glasgow area yesterday with my brother and got a pair of bumpers

for replacement for the ones I took just off, here they are all on my front lawn.

Thanks again john300zx - great guy - nice meeting you !

The black ones above are to go on the silver zed and the silver ones are now for the black zed.

Total bummer that they all need a respray now !

Anyways taking off as much good stuff as i can from the silver I decided to change over

the stock air filter that came with the black zed to the newer one in the silver zed.

28.jpg

29.jpg

Also thinking about the smooth look so removed the rear spoiler and wiper which

both are in the forsale section if anybody wants them !

Notice the black lecky tape covering the holes as my tempory fix !

30.jpg

I'll be taking the black front an rear bumpers in for there respray tommorrow, as much

as I want to get my black one done - i do need to get the silver back to a sellable condition quickly !

I've still to swap over the exhausts and put on the bumpers for the black zed but since

jae is coming up shortly I need at least one of these beats ready for the trip down.

as yet i'm not sure which ones going !

So after i cleaned up the two silver bumpers with the jetti, I took them to my

local spray painter who is gonna do them in black for me, I would have had

them fitted by now but hes decided to go a weeks hols and i'll have to wait

untill after the 16th, bummer !

I was hoping to get them done before the trip to JAE so i'll still have the old ones one.

Here they are waiting to be primed :

Been a busy weekend for me so it has, after seeing the post about the hawk alarms I

went and bought one for myself too; the model I went for was the HA-260RS as I didn't

fancie the LCD version they had.

Anyways its comes with a fairly cool remote as below :

32.jpg

I've only took a few shots of the install mainly because I dont want to advertise how I

did it, anyways I decided for a boot install rather than putting it all under the dash.

33.jpg

I know it looks fairly messy but its all simple stuff really !

I made up a custom cable harness of eight cables [all black] that goes from the boot to

the ignition, hand break lever and break foor pedal, also a cable for remote locking.
