H.I.D kit came, but don't quite get the instructions

7 days from paying for them, these little puppies came from hong kong

(apologies for the sideways picture)

but in the instructions, it mentions somthing about a relay. I was under the impresion that i just plugged the old light fitment into the balast, and stick the new bulb where the old one went and away i go. not that i'm afraid of a little extra graft, i just don't wanna go breaking stuff!

anyway is anybody able to shed some light on this for me?

much appreciated.

I would say that your original thought is correct. And that the relay that is refereed to in the instructions is the original car headlamp relay, although it's not a clear photo. Like you say it should be plug and play.

well theres to extra spade connectors coming from the bulb, and then theres another plug, and then a socket in the ballast. the suns come out so think i'll go have a play.

I'll be interested to see how you get on. My next purchase for the Z will probably be a HID kit and i'm useless with things like this so i was hoping for plug and play :)

Peter

On your Zed there should be a double connector going to the bulb. Un-plug this connector and remove the bulb. Insert your new HID lamp into the aperture and clip in place. Locate your new HID ballasts in a good spot.

You should have an input and output on the ballast, from the output side connect the wire to the new lamp. On the input side this is where you plug the original bulb connector (well to the wire that come from it anyway)...

And that's it! Job done.

So it's...

Loom Connector ========== Ballast ========== HID Lamp

it actaully is as simple as that, the wired plug an socket actallu match up, and u just simply plug the two spade conectors into the old lamp holder. i've got no idea where i'm gunna put the ballasts though, there's not alot of room under there.

Peter, they really are easy peasy, i got mine from ebay, 55w (the bright ones) H3 fitment, and i've oppted for the 8000k colour (a bit more blue). under £40 shipped from hong kong. think i'll put them in on saturday when i'm doing the sound system. if your at the japnortheast meet on sunday i'll show you the finished result.

I also have my ballast units under the front nose panel - it helps if you have removed the original air box and have an induction filter fitted though.....

.....however before I binned the air box, I used number-plate fixing pads and stuck the ballasts to the air-intake pipe as a temporary measure.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Aww cheers - I heard HIDs can be an MOT issue, did you hear that or am i worrying over nothing?
