If I install a Nismo thermosthat, is bad for the engine?

HI!!

In Spain, the temperature now is about 35-45 ºCelsius, and my water temperature is always around 200-205º F.

Now I have bought a Nismo thermosthat that opens at 62º C, and some people tell me that if I install the Nismo, the normal conditions of the engine will be diferent, (electronic adaptation of temperature sensor etc)...

What do you think about this?

Thanks

Javier

Hi mate,

I'll try and help if poss but it should be noted I'm not an expert so you may want to double check what I'm telling you...

so 200 to 205 is right on the end of where the car should be... I believe that the Stock Thermostat opens at around 76 deg C, If you put a thermostat in that is opening at a lower temp then all you'll do is prolong how long the car takes to warm up it will not minimise your top end temperature... What you need to do is get yourself a decent aftermarket Rad with a bigger capacity and cooling surface like a Koyo...

Like I say this is what I think you need to do but someone will correct me if I'm wrong...

Do yourself a favour and get a PWR quaud core Rad and stick with the standard thermostate and you will never have high temp probs again unless u have timing issuse. Koyo would proberly do the job but if you still have your air con and want to keep it. The PWR will nail the problem regardless how hard you drive it.
