When I got the car on the boost controller the peak from the previous owner was 16.7, I beat this and had 17.6 I think it was.

I then had someone link it to a pc, or so I am lead to believe and then very soon after I flogged it again and got 19.3psi, giving me loads of power with a view to more to come I thought.

But now I am struggling to get it above 13. 14 or so, it just loses power, :huh:wooshes away instead of pulling me along with more gusto.

What is happening please?

sounds like a pipe's come off!

seriously this happened to me recently but the whole pipe had come off causing juddering while attempting to boost (which I did once after it happened). thanks to Jeff for identifying and fixing it. i'm currently suffering from it again at the moment (running 17-18psi) so perhaps a more heavy-duty solution is required...

ps. assuming your rides is up to date, I'd back that boost down to 15psi max pretty sharpish!

 looking through your Spec list....you should never have pushed it above 15psi !

13-14psi is the safe MAXIMUM without larger injectors and IC's. At around 14-15psi the Injectors are at 100% duty and can not flow anymore...after which they go lean and fuel starve. Even with uprated injectors and IC's the turbos are out of steam by 17-18psi and just blowing hot air.

You may be extremely lucky and simply have a boost leak, or you may have done untold damage im afraid.

I hope your spec list is not up to date or your having a lucky streak.

First port of call is a Boost leak test and ECU error code test. After which you want to be looking at a Compression test.

You have me worried Dave, I think I might of been having too much fun.

What is worse case scenario and how much dollar??

TURN THAT BOOST DOWN QUICK OR THIS WILL HAPPEN

Seriously get it checked out, meanwhile if you need to drive your zed take it easy and do not let the boost go over 14 PSI

Like it has been said above; I too, for your sake, hope Legrath is wrong (but he does know a thing or two about the 300zx so I'm thinking the worst....)

So worst case - well a new engine!

Do what Jeff, Dave et al say and turn that boost down

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Oh dear, sooner rather than later , BANG BANG, POP!. No way should you be up to 19.3psi .As Jeff says, turn it down, or even off, then get on rollers/dyno pack, see what you can safely take it too,and within limits, hopefully you have not done any damage so far.

Tony

Brillo pads and now this. Jeeze dude, you really gotta take a little more care. Hope you've not done any damage, but I totally agree with Legrath. I suspect you've already done damage, but if it's enough to be detrimental to engine health remains to be seen.

Turn the boost right down to 14PSi which is very nice power for a stock engine. Check your boost hoses...and I'd also do a compression check to see if you have signs of any loss in compression.....just incase you have to prepare yourself.

Been out for a spin today and I don't seem to have a problem at all. :cool3:

Turned the boost right down and was much easier on the pedal, re set the ebc and I now have the highest at a more pleasing 12.2psi, I think you all must be pleased with me and my behaviour from now on.

In fact, the car was faultless, boosting perfect and dumping.

It seems I was silly and asking way too much of the car, taking it to it's absolute limit.

19.3psi will just now live in the memory, car is plenty quick enough without me flogging it to death. :death:

Longevity - well I just don't know but I think I have got out of jail!!!

I'd still do a compression check. If you've been driving it around ever since you've had it on over 15PSi, that's potentially a long time of driving going beyond the capabilities of the injectors.
