Slick Pete will be starting on my new car in about two or three weeks. He's going to strip out most of the mechanicals in the slicktop and get the bodywork right up to scratch along with a few other jobs :)

The engine and electronics from the red car will be put into the slicktop by Dan when Pete has done his stuff.

There are going to be a fair few new parts so there will be lots of good stuff up for grabs at very reasonable prices. Pete will be sorting out what's to be had from the slicktop and there will be some stuff from the red one and of course the rolling shell will be looking for a new owner. Not much in the way of details just yet but will be posting a thread in the for sale when we know precisely what's going.

What is certain is that while I won't be stripping the slicktop to the bare bones I won't be keeping aircon and various servos etc to keep the weight right down.

I guess my main performance aim is to exceed 200 mph. I managed 196 mph on my ZX10R after spending a bloody fortune so this is my last chance as getting too bloody old for it lol.

cool, you gonan have it out and around the local meets this summer?

When it's finished I will drive it most weekends and will definitely go to some meets :)

Managed 583 at the hubs on 16 psi.

I'm pretty pleased with that. Only minor problem is that it blew a gasket on the manifolds lol. Soon sort that I hope. Am taking it to Gary for respray tomorrow.

I gotta say I think it's going to be a bloody handful as it's so light but I'm really looking forward to taking it out big time :)

Nice figure, is that with the 100bhp shot of nos?

Yes it is. Same engine managed 504 rwhp and we never run it with the NOS on the dyno. Not going to run more boost as I want to keep it reasonably reliable :)

Great news bob :D Well done mate! What have you decided about the wheels/arch clearance in the end?

Hey Nick how's it going mate? Getting some new wheels from Japan in Feb. Am not going to stretch the arches though a little roll will do just in case it's needed. I see the V8 is making progress too :)

This looks like an amazing project and i would definiatly love to see this in the flesh! it has come so far since this summer! Hope it all goes well bobgenie Good luck!

An update. I dropped off the car at Gary's on Friday and discussed paint and bodywork. I am going with the Nissan pearl white and keeping pretty much all the original sway lines etc. Only real changes are 99 spec bumper and rear lights and the Twinz rear.

I had to go to Stockport to pick up two roller shutter doors for the zed garages and Pete kindly put me up for the night on the way. I was supposed to buy him a takeaway but he ended up buying for me lol. We had long discussions about what to do with the zed and have a fair picture of the finished product now. We're hoping that the car will hit Pete's early January where he will do the interior and some further fettling before taking it back to Dan's who was unable to properly finish off engine set up. Assuming my wheels arrive in Feb it should be fully ready for the road mid Feb as a finished project :) I'll have to let Pete take it up the strip while I'm gonna take it to Silverstone. Having said that, it's so much smaller and lighter than the red one maybe Cadwell Park would be good too :)

thats some great progress mate, fingers crossed it will all go smoothly for you, looking forward to the end result

  • 1 month later...

Well its early January now!! Despite arctic weather and an extended break for Xmas/New year we are still pretty much on schedule......

I went over to GB Vehicles in Lincs today to take some parts for Gary to fit and to dicuss the project.

Unfortunately Gary had to spend the morning at the local hospital with his mum who took a tumble. However Gary's wife Paula gave me the workshop keys..............

Need I say more????????

thats looking great, shaping up to be one of my forum faves

Mine too!!!

Shame I dont own it!!

Just getting a nice set of Ser 2 alcantara installed this weekend.

Got some tidying of stuff in engine bay also.

New Seats are due soon as are new wheels.

New scuttle panel trims to be fitted next week along with HID kit and clear side indicators.

that looks fantastic! love it

Best get on up here then sharpish. I will soon be done my bit and sending it off down to Dan at Advanced Motorsport again.

Just another day at the office then......

Hello Series 2 alcantara.... goodbye Ser 4 charcoal/black cloth.

Ignore the grey tweed pass seat on the drivers side thats only there so we can drive the motor ATM. We should be saying hello to some Recaros very soon!

Clear side indics and HID lights are next.

Few more jobs today.....

Install new scuttle panels.

Install new side indicators

Install HID kit(PITA)

Just got a couple of chrome pieces to fit in engine bay and some cables to tidy before it gets picked up on Monday to go back to Advanced Motorsport.

Car is now too valuable for me to risk trailering behind my Mondeo so Dan at Advanced Motorsport is arranging a fully insured transporter to collect.

Todays pics..................
