Side lights work, full beams work, dipped headlights do not. Bugger!

changed fuses, bulbs are clearly not blown - my boyfriend has looked at the wiring and has found some electricians tape on some wires relating to the lights, so suspect some sort of botched repair by previous owner.

Can I just check, when you depress the brake pedal, is it normal for a red light on the dash saying "lights" to come on? Or is this part of the above issue possibly?

Hoping someone at the meet up on Sunday will have a bit more knowledge of a Z than us will be able to point us in the right direction. In the meantime, no night time driving for me!!

By the way, it was when I was fiddling with my lights, and I flicked from dipped to full beams that I lost my headlights completely and so far they've not come back on......

i would sugest then that its the switch for the fullbeam. i'm gunna assume that having it switch the beam on, and then turn the dipped off it will probably be the cause. probably burnt out or something. try taking the stalk out (not sure how hard this actually is) and get mark to check the switching with a multimeter.

He's already taken it off and had a fiddle - don't own a multimeter, plan of action is to get my mechanic's sparky to sort out the electrics on the whole car as they are rather ropey

When a bulb goes, when you indicate left or right, doesn't it tick faster to alert you a light being out? Coz thats not happening....

For the record, this does happen on the Zed - I found out a few months back when I had a lose front indicator bulb ;)

Unfortunatly Jane i'm a very buisy bunny, i've got guvi jobs coming out my ears (fish shop in north ormsby, unit in Longbeck) and i'm in edinburgh with the mrs tomorow and wednesday and i'm back at regular work on thurs. and to top it off my starter motor fell off the zed on friday night. had to leave it out side quite a bad area of redcar untill last night when 3 of us managed to bump it off, was ****ed after pushing that beast! hopefully will have a new starter by end of the week and i'm gonna offer to such chewy off so he fits it for me. mite i add he's very pleased with the celica, which is a bad thing because now he's going to be using his free time playing with that instead of playing with mine. but i supose i can't be selfish all the time now.
