anyone able to convert to elec for me near essex

Some people have had problems with this conversion, the viscous fan is very efficient.

seconded take a quick look, people have had some very poor results swapping over to eletric fan. if done right its very efficent but its big bucks to do properly.

I've got a decent viscous for sale £15 if you want it, sounds like yours is seized

it spins with hand, just noisy cars done 49k

maybe it needs a change then???

The poor performance people have had with electric fans is due to poor kits and small fans. Properly researched and the right kit shows no problems at all and there is people quite happy with their electric fans and cooling.

It may only have done 49k, but its 20 years old :lol:

 

they are wax filled and prone to failure, is it tight when you turn by hand?

agreed hence the reason most modern cars have this set up, but unfortuntly i dont think people research properly as you say and it ends up pretty expensive, although saying that the new fan clutch from nissan is a rip

If you go for an electric fan set-up, make sure it is big with sufficient airflow to the rad. I changed my 300 to electric and suffered over-heating issues, reverted back to viscious and no issues. I am running a highly modded zed. :gunsmilie:

check that it's not the fan for the air con that is running, I think this can run under certain sensor fault condtions.

bigger sound system lol. what do you need that for in a zed? i barely ever use the cd player other than on the motorway. spend the money on some service items gotta be summin that needs doing? like that fan clutch?(not trying to be a d**k, mostly said in jest but half serious on service items)

Its not a old car vs modern car thing. Electric fans are typcially fitted to cheaper cars, while Expensive bigger engined cars typically have Viscous.

 

A proper Electric fan setup can be an pretty expensive aftermarket install, still wont be as good as a Viscous setup and offers very miniscule gains.

 

Cheaper to replace than a brand new viscous, but they are readily available 2nd hand.

lol thanks guys its going in today foe a look, think theres some straw stuck or grass and weeds that have wrapped around it,

cant hear it anyway with my single zorst

Remember there is also a two speed electric fan in front of the radiator of a TT. This is needed for aircon proper operation as well. The stock viscous is good if it works properly and usually they do.
