Sorry peeps, Jackanory time

Since I split from my Ex Wife in 2003 we've got on fairly well considering. Well last year after getting engaged to her 'bloke' a couple of Xmas' ago I suddenly found out that they had split up! So that she could move out she asked me if I'd give her a hand moving and obtain a van and drive it for her. I thought why not, we get on OK still so no problem. As we were arriving at her new place she suddenly said to me that there might be someone waiting there to meet her! It suddenly hit me...... she'd done the same to her new bloke as she'd done to me..... cheated! Stupid cow! I'm not bothered about her, and not all that bothered about him, but it's the kids that she's messing about just for her own selfish reasons.

Anyway she's seeing a new bloke so that's her business. I was a little pee'd off because she asked me to have a day off work and help her, but her new bloke didn't bother! Charming!

Anyway, to the point of this post..... 'Things' between us have seemed to go down-hill ever since, not because it bothered me, but her attitude towards me, and I'm not entirely sure why although I have a hunch (NO! not the Quasimodo type of hunch!! ;) ) Anyway sometimes I have to work Saturdays, and as I have the kids stop over every other weekend I try to avoid those weekends. Well a few months ago I had to work one of the Saturdays that I had the kids and asked my Ex if i could pick the kids up late on the Saturday afternoon instead of the Friday, to which she went off on one and started moaning that I don't take my responsibilities seriously (WTF???!!!) and she point blank refused to help me out.

Now in the meantime I've had my kids over for a full week while she went on holiday with her new bloke (arranged prior to the above incident) I've also arranged to have them for two weeks in the summer school holidays (as i do every year) Well today I've just received a text that reads.....

"I need u 2 av the kids on 29th aug 4 a wk plZ as paul is takin me away 4 wk as a thx 4 holl in may and late birthday treat"

WTF!!!!! Is she taking he piss or what? The cheeky cow, I've not had a holiday for five bloody years, and she wants to have two in one year and both without the kids, and just to expect me to drop everything for her so she can enjoy herself? Don't get me wrong, I love my kids to bits and would love for them to live with me permanently, but it's just not practical while they at the ages that they are, but I don't see why I should help her out.

Is it just me or does her text sound a little out of order? Am I being a little bit touchy?

I await some interesting replies........ ;)

Dave i think you should just bite the bullet and have the kids, turn the situation around to your advantage and show them a really good time while their mum is away, kids aint stupid and as they become older im sure the will have their own opinion on thier mum's behaviour, speaking from experiance the relationship i had with my dad when i was a kid seemed ok at the time but now im an adult i make my own choices and i can say i have very little respect for him now with regards to his responsibilites as a parent.

Tough situation Dave :( I'm on the other side of the fence - my wife had a daughter with her ex who moved in with me when she was 2. We now also have a 3 year old son (and a new daughter due this week!)

My step-daughter's dad is a real selfish nob jockey. He sees her when it suits him and takes her to things that he wants to do (rabbit shooting at 7 years old FFS - I sh!t you not!) But, she loves him to death so we get along and don't make waves. Hopefully, she'll realise when she's older what a tw@t he really is.

The new boyfriend sounds like a c*nt - if someone swore like that at my kids I'd have to have a "quiet word". The fact that she condoned it makes me despair :(

Good luck with this fella. Keep a cool head and do right by the kids - as has been said many times already, they're the important ones.

Well, well ;)

Next week is the week!

And I'm having the kids stop with me.

Partially because this weekend is my weekend anyway, and my Ex buggers off on Sunday, and partially because I'm their dad and they prefer to be with me anyway (they told me, I never asked them!!!)

So, all being well, we'll be off to London for a coulpe of nights during the week and as for the rest of the time just quality time together.

I may only have a small place here and we are a little cramped, but sod it, they are my kids and I love them to bits. The more time I can spend with them the better.

Well a bit of time has passed since all of this earlier this year, and we now have a new stage....... He kicked my kids out of the house today! Yes you read that right 'HE'

They are now here at my place permanently! It's only a 2 bed flat, so I see a bit of a struggle coming up, but we'll manage somehow.

I've not posted this for sympathy, I've posted this up just to show what a dick-head he really is. I'm also currently absolutely fuming!

Will be taking this one step at a time, so I may be away from the club for a few days while I spend time sorting things out.

Thank you for reading, be back soon,

Dave

Dave, i reckon your kids are in the best place for them to be honest. What mother lets a new man into their life and then lets him dictate where her kids live? You'd have to get me in the grave before any man came between me and my girl. Really hope you can sort the practical issues as soon as possible and get things resolved from a legal point of view so that they are definitely permanently with you - because when it goes tits up with this bloke and she decides she wants the kids back, you need to be able to tell her to f**k right off (legally!)

im speechless mate - the word 'dickhead' was invented for people like him! youre a level-headed guy and I know whatever you do will be for the best!

if your ex and her jackass of a partner have done that then you should contact a solicitor , u should get legal aid and have your children permanantly i know its difficult but clearly your ex doesnt deserve the children and i would say it would be great for your own peice of mind

What a knob he is mate. I can see you're fuming but on the upside you do now have your kids with you. And I'd reckon they're better off with you as well.

I hope it all works out for you Dave; you know you can always lean on us lot here for advice, or just to unload your troubles, whenever you want.

Good luck buddy!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Totally agree with what's been said, your kids are in a better place. Sad that your ex would put this bloke first but that's a reflection on her :(

Keep your chin up mate, you're doing the best for your kids in being a good dad and they'll know that :)

Its got to be hard, and kids are hard work, but you cant beat being close to your kids.

Money, cars, houses....They all mean nothing, its the kids that count.

im in the same boat as you Dave ..have the kids but keep a log a diary of every event and the reason behind it ...not just to memory but keep texts and emails ..when the kids are old enough and want to know the truth hand them the diary and say make your own mind up .....you have to be a Dad first and foremost ,any idiot can be a father dont let your feelings cloud your judgement ....when you get the chance go round and tell them both your ex and her chap ..that you will do anything for the kids but that they crossed the line and they will not take the piss again ....in future you require a months notice not a text ....tell them to grow up and be adults ..good luck mate

Couldn't agree more. My ex is slightly better than he was but his contact with my daughter is minimal and it took me 2 years to start getting any sort of financial support from him (and when I finally went down the CSA route having run out of other options, was subjected to a tirade of abuse and very personal information about myself pasted all over Facebook). He is her biological father but Marc's her dad really. He's the one who picks her up from school and plays with her and does most of the dad stuff with her....

Its nice to see so many doting dads on here

Thanks everyone for your support. Kids seemed a bit happier this morning when I packed them off to school.

I've also been talking civily to my Ex (well texting anyway) this morning. I think she may of realised that she's just made the biggest mistake of her life!!

Oh and I forgot to add another bit in yesterday, I received two abusive and fretening text messages from 'him' yesterday afternoon, of which I've passed on to the police, so at least that's on record now.... you never know, it may be usefull in the future ;)

Legal and financial stuff to sort out now, but I'll leave that until next week so we can enjoy a 'bother-free' weekend together.

Again, thank you all

If you ever need a day off or a day out, let us know i'll step in for you mate. Glad to help anyone who puts kids first, ive three girls and a wife so hormones are great in our house, but I love em all.

Really hope you all have a good weekend. Well done for going to the police re those threatening texts, and document all of this as it happens as your solicitor will need all this info, assuming you are going for legal custody now. As for your ex-wife, she'll have all the time in the world to reflect on her actions now she hasn't got the kids with her.....

Hope the kids settle in nicely at yours, the practicalities will fall into place eventually, the important thing is they are with you

x

Wow What an Idiot. Good luck to you and the Kids I am sure they will be happier with you.

Dave it sounds like things have worked out for the best. He's done you the biggest favour you could ask for and given you the kids back. From now on it gets easier and she'll finally get her comeuppance :)

Enjoy your weekend buddy and hope everything works out just as it should in the next few weeks

Nick

Really sorry to hear that your kids are being treated like the rubbish you throw out on a friday morning. I have to ask this.. what did the mother do when her new boyfriend kicked the kids out?. I'm no woman but the first thing I would be doing is getting my coat and bag.
