i'm gonna be changing my stock rubber rear spoiler for a fibreglass replica stock spoiler in very near future just after some tips for bonding new spoiler in place, is it best to use the bonding glue close to the edges of the spoiler so to stop water getting underneath or as they did on the one i just bought

2nd hand halfway back on the top surface and sides? my only concern with that of course is water getting under spoiler and getting in through holes left, i also notice they never bonded rear edge is that correct?

other one is do i need to rough up paint before applying bonding glue? and does spoiler need to be clamped whilst glue is setting

bonding glue i've bought is called master seal, polyurethane sealing and bonding compound

cheers guys

just make sure the surface is really clean and fix to car using stikaflex. once it sets it will not move. thats how i fixed mine on and its still there 4yrs on.

I would tho fill the holes from the original spoiler before fixing the new one.

yes stick some sealer over the holes before fitting i always ruff up the paint and the spoiler ,once fitted and gone off put a thin bead all way round to stop water getting in ,none need on the rear though as the rubber strips go in there that run across the top of the lights, plus make sure you can still get these in before the glue sets lol

Sikoflex is the best stuff you can use. i believe this would probably hold a car together given the chance. i've stuck several spoilers on different cars with this and they've never budged an inch.

Doesn't really matter where you put it, just put lots on and stick it down. you won't need to clamp it unless the fit is slightly off. It sets fairly rapidly too.

My advice though is to fit the spoiler then repaint the spoiler and boot lid all in one go
