Your either going to have to fit an after market gauge and sender you can trust or take it to a garage that has an oil pressure test kit either way You really need to work out if it is low oil pressure before you do serious damage, rattle could just be sticky lifter but it could be oil starvation

The OEM oil pressure gauge is notorious for inaccurate readings. Get an A/M gauge and i am sure your pressure will read ok.

For saftey always use an aftermarket temp gauge, oil pressure gauge, boost gauge and oil temp is also good one

99% of the time, the low pressure reading is due to a failing sender unit. NOT a faulty gauge.

Very common at this age, the sender can read high pressure because the is the less used portion of the internals (when cold)

When hot, the most used portion of the internals is used and the sender is worn there, the gauge reads low even 0 sometimes.

They cost about £85 for a new OEM sender which is fitted under the engine. I changed mine last year and it now reads perfectly and responsively.

Follow the oil pipe from the passenger side turbo goes into a block bout the middle of the sump has a 2 pin connector looks like a cylinder bout 1" by 2" deep, it unscrews, you can spot it easy from under the car
