Just trying to get a handle on the name. Are all z32's called the Fairlady?

Mine is a UK 1994 TT manual. Is that a 'Fairlady' too please.

Featured Replies

If yours is a UK model then it is a Nissan 300zx.

The import models are Fairlady Z's.

Fairlady was the name used in Japan ONLY! So you do not have a Fairlady!

HTH

:D

Ahhh, thanks guys, I appreciate that.

As has been said it's a name used for the zed range in Japan. There isn't anything special that makes the car a Fairlady or a 300ZX, so call it what you want.

the origin of the name fairlady for japan models comes from the then owner of nissan . after a visit to the states and a trip to see his favourite musical on broadway . MY FAIRLADY . strange but true .

Imports were badged both fairlady on the tailgate and 300zx on the centre panel.

Correct, although like Si I was delighted when the badge was removed.

Nissan has a penchant for silly and inappropriate names. Read Cherry, Sunny, laural, Gloria etc.

Mind you, Micra was a stroke of genius.

5 actually

But i hate the name Fairlady, makes me cringe and would rather forget i own 5 fairladys, ewwwwwwwwwwwww

I agree! I was always a little embarrassed about the 'Fairlady' badge on the back. When I got my 99 spec rear lights (after a few months of ownership) the old faided perspex panel was replaced with a new one and the name was removed forever!

   time to knock out some 'zangle mcdangleberry' decals!

Mmmmm, sorry did not mean to start a WAR chaps and chapesses...........lol

Its all in good fun bud, Gives us something to talk about

Nissan recognised that the name would not be widely accepted in the rest of the world, so marketed it as the 300zx for Export markets.

A Fairlady 1500 turned up to the Branson Z fest in Missouri last week. Cool as hell!

There was a listing on ebay a while back with a slight typo 'FAILRADY' so a few of my mates often bring that word up now!
