Hey all cars in the bodyshop for respray and kit fit so while its there Ive been getting some work done on the new engine, BUT im not sure what turbos and manifolds to go for??? Id be quiet happy with 400-450bhp ive already got decat exhaust, Mines chipped ecu, HKS filter, Boost jets, and front mount intercooler. Any of the more experienced engine builders have any suggestions???

Thanks Craig

What injectors are you running Craig?

It's all very well putting more air into the engine, but if you cant match it with the fuel, you'll end up with bother!

Oh, when i had my engine rebuilt, i opted for the GT600R's from Z1.

At the minute just stock injectors but I'm thinking of 550 injectors aswell just not sure if stock turbos with supporting mods will be good for 400+ bhp

Thankfully your not aiming for masses of performance here, so in short you have many options turbo wise.

If your looking at costs whilst the engine is out, then for sure do the turbo's now, injectors can be done later with not much labour cost involved when funds are available, if not now.

The 600's listed above are pretty powerful turbo's for around 600bhp.

You need literaly any 5 bolt turbo to suit the power level you desire, the JWT530 is a nice quick spooling and not to big either.

The options at Z1 are endless, if you wish to purchase in the UK, then turbo dynamics do a great t25/t28 hybrid in 5 bolt design and is a very quick spooling turbo.

I run these and only a few others that am aware off. 414bhp and 475lbs of torque.

No idea on cost though.

Oh and manifolds tbh unless your going greater than the 450bhp area, save yer money and add to the cost of owt else.

You will see little benefit with manifolds unless you go for the likes of the 600's and bigger, manifolds are shown to really only be restrictive when chasing bigger outputs. If you really want them, then the AMS or Mike smith cast are ideal.

You could port your existing ones too if you wanted!

cheers guys, TBH 400bhp would suit me nicely, i dont want to go stupid, im just thinking while im changing the engine i might aswell get everything done at once and save pulling it out again at a later date, The bottom end has forged internals so should be able to cope with alot more then what i want to put through it.

Would you know what stock tubs are good for, as mine are in very good nick, if i could get 400 ponys with supporting mods then i wouldnt bother changing them tbh.

cheers Craig

I would also be interested in what the stock tubs can manage. I have the injectors and just want to up the boost. same a craig really but i have stock internals

What can the stock pistons etc handle?

I wouldn't put a stock engine/tubs above 14psi and if everything is running well that should give you in excess of 350+ with all the other correct parts.

FWIW - At the recent Dyno day my car (stock, tubs, IC's, injectors, internals + catted) JWT chip @14psi, ran 357bhp.

Hoping when I fit the decat, and larger SMIC's and the 555's to see just over 400bhp.

HTH

In that case if you want simples without chasing the ponies and effective with decent returns, a decent pair of hybrid T25's which are a 4 bolt standard design and will do yer nicely.

Again ask turbo dynamics for a price.

I'm running hks gt2530's, spool up nice and quick and the car pulls hard right through the rev range,1 bar boost, standard engine and injectors, Decat, hks superdrager exhaust, larger side mount intercoolers, unsure on power but with full interior and other crap 1/4 mile was 13.1 seconds (same as Ferrari 360 modena) and this was with the old dying engine, I get the car back Saturday then it's going on a r/r to make sure it's running 100% then it's getting put on the strip

Cool so should be ok to stick with standard turbos by the sounds of it, and get close to 400 that will do me nicely

I am glad you said that, tbh getting above 400 reliably costs £1000s

I think 400hp is about the best you can get for a road car. I would be more than happy with that.
