Hi all, I am doing head gasket on my 300zx, I am stuggling to find head bolts. Do these need to be changed or are they not stretch bolts? If they need changing where can I get them? Also has anyone got any tips this is first 300zx head gasket changes I have done. Cheers.

They need changing they are stretch bolts. Speak to MJP Mr F in the traders section to get them from the UK probably the best price. Im just doing an engine at the moment but getting my parts from CZP in America as as getting a few bits off them and their prices work out cheaper. You will also need all the other gaskets to do the job like plenum and rocker covers ideally. Engine is pretty simple to strip so you shouldnt have any problems really.

No they aren't stretch bolts, and they dont need replacing. Be sure to follow the correct tensioning procedure in the manual though.

Also make sure you note the difference in lengths. 2 of them are shorter and go in certain holes.

Cheers guys have ordered complete headset and I'm going to change water pump aswell whilst I'm taking it apart. I have autodata for the torque settings. Is there a better manual to use?

Definately not stretch bolts. Although when I had sticking valves in the first year of ownership. The biggest 300zx garage (at the time) decided to use stretch bolts on my head. Fine for a bit until warm and then I pretty much lost the whole tank of water in about 35 seconds.

So happy to confirm from experience they are not stretch bolts :)
