That's a generic item. Without reading the contents of it with software or a burner, you will never know what it is.

wel.. for start i'd never try it on my ecu cause the erase window is uncovered....
Inside an ECU it would be quite safe. Even exposed to the sun it would still take years to erase. You need a direct UV light source to erase them.

You are right but things can happen, depends also if it's otp or not but anyway is a risk a bit can be changed.

My opinion would be to copy the content to a 29c256, just keep it under 100ms speed.
