That's a generic item. Without reading the contents of it with software or a burner, you will never know what it is.

Inside an ECU it would be quite safe. Even exposed to the sun it would still take years to erase. You need a direct UV light source to erase them.

You are right but things can happen, depends also if it's otp or not but anyway is a risk a bit can be changed.

My opinion would be to copy the content to a 29c256, just keep it under 100ms speed.

Haven't heard of a 29C. Must check that one out

I even use in my crx a 29c512 with a switch to be able to drive in a "stock" daily driver tune and "rage" boost maniac. :)
