Hi all, Having taken my 300 ZX TT for a frst run today I am very impressed by the performance. However as this is my first turbo'd car I crave a BOV valve to make some additional noise. I assume with 2 turbo's I can run a pair of BOV's but I do not know a lot about fitting them. Can anybody advise what I should be looking for? I am hoping someone offers a complete fitting kit to make life easier although some pointers on where to fit them would also help!

Cheers

Two ways to fit. Replace the recirt valves with BOVS or get bovs tapered into the hard pipes.

People only usually fit bovs when thier recirt valves start goose honking. So it you are fitting them for fun, make sure you save your recirt valves if there is nothing wrong with them as they will sell nicely on here to people who don't want BOVS.

Have a look at HKS SQL's they are very nice sounding and easy to install.

Is it just a case od replacing "honking" valaves with new ones, or is there a better upgarde to get rid of the terrible noise. First time I heard it I couldn't believe that it could possibly be the Zed making that awfull noise!

Get a pair of DV30s. They are Bailey's own recirc valves so you don't have to put up with that stupid pointless noise of Dump Valves.

Do these DV30's stop the "honking" noise Si.

Not interested in BOV's.

Well they replace the stock recirc valves which are what cause the goose honk. So yes! :)

Well done, steer clear of BOVs. :)

Has anyone got any DV30s? It doesnt list our car in there database, i imagine they are all the same?

Not sure about DV30's but I've currently got a pair of BAILEY 'EVO' bov's fitted; however I plan to switch shortly to HKS SSQV's.

I ran the BAILEY's on my original engine for about 20 miles and they seemed pretty decent, though to be fair I can only compare them to the stock recirc' valves that I'd just removed.

Doubt he's after BOVs if he's interested in recircs mate.

They are all much of a muchness. It's because we require 2 of.

I personally have a fondness for old Blitz SS's but finding genuine ones are hard.. finding ones cheap with fitting kit are harder. There's a pair on yahoo auctions Japan just now with hardpipes, but it's not worth the money they command to me - I like the noise but I wouldnt spend money on it when it's better spent elsewhere :)

yes mate i would be interested, what are they and what would you want for them?

cheers

I have always associated bailey with the likes of Ford and Vauxhalls not Jap cars therefore i wouldnt use them quite happy with my HKS. I think it all depends on what you want alot of mixed views on this site.

Everyone has thier own opinion on BOVS.

Some people like them, some people don't.

Lets just get a few things out in the open.

1) BOVS do not increase your BHP.

2) BOVS vent the excess air rather than pushing it back into your system.

3) There is a theory that BOVS realease excess back pressure on the turbo's thus causing them to wear at an increased rate.

4) BOVS make a loud noise as they release the air.

5) If not set up correctly or pressure springs on BOVS are worns, this could create turbo chatter (aka turbine stall). Now, some people love this noise, but this is VERY BAD for your turbo's.

If it's just the noise you want and they are set up correctly then go for it, it's not going to hinder or improve the cars performance but if that's what you want don't let anyone stop you. Just make sure they are set up correctly to avoid problems.

I personally had them on my car as I started getting goose honk from the recircs. I believe that the standard recircs have a limit on how much pressure they can hold before they start to wear, therefore people running much higher boost will usually find themselves changing them for after market recircs or bovs.

I must have something similar to the DV30's fitted because my car doesn't make a sound when changing gear or coming off the accel peddle

it's not going to hinder or improve the cars performance.

They certainly are if you're running stock engine management. Might not be that noticeable, but it certainly does affect it.
