Here are some pics of a couple of Z31's that I've had for a few years now.

'The Machine' is an '86 N/A Z31 which may be restored in the future (and fitted with the full leather interior from the black 'Z' below) or sold on as a summer project for someone else to enjoy

I put a new battery on it last week and it fired up first time

The silver Z31 is going to be converted as a 'tramp drifter' for this season, in order to run it in whilst my Z32 build is ongoing

The plan is to remove the rear hatch and rear windows, fit a 4 point weld in roll cage (that I've just sourced for £50!) and convert it into a flat back OZ inspired UT/31.

The tired silver paintwork will be replaced with a NATO desert tan colour.

*The future intention with this car is to convert it into a disabled drifter, fitted with a hand operated clutch so that it can be driven by some of the injured guys/gals after their recovery at Hedley court.

Hopefully with it being a bit of an unusual drift car it will serve as a rolling advert to raise the profile of 'Help For Heroes'.

This was discussed with the staff at 'Help For Heroes' a while back, but due to the economic downturn; and the fact that it is purely a self funded project, it has had to be put on the back burner, hopefully this build will gather some momentum shortly.

An old scrap Z32 rolling shell was donated for the project which will be used to upgrade some parts on the older Z31 (the shell on the donated Z32 unfortunately had rotten sills so could not be used, though other parts that are interchangable will be used to improve the original car)

The silver Z31's N/A motor pulls like a tram so I'll use that one initially and then will look to fit the Turbo engine out of the black scrap Z31, as it's only got 50k on the clock and should be good for about 200 bhp'ish stock

I started the silver Z31 up today for the first time in a while since my last drift session about 9 months ago; I had to get the leads from the truck and jump start it as the battery was flat, but she kicked in straight away and sounded exactly how a V6 should (big grins all round)

The first thing that I noticed when I got in the drivers seat was the clutch pedal, when pushed, go's straight to the floor and stays there, preventing you from selecting gear.

I had a quick look under the bonnet and found the reservoir was pretty much empty and there's a small fluid leak underneath the car.

I figure that maybe a pipe has split or a connection is leaking, any suggestions??

As soon as I can get the clutch issue squared away I can start getting this project on the go again.

Nice set of z31`s mate, just try and pump the clutch pedal a load of times, mine sticks sometmes when not used for a while, but seems to go ok after a while? worth a try:cool3:

I love my Z32 but, there's something honest and raw about the Z31 that the Z32 lacks, a lot less gadgets (not that my Z32 has any gadges left) and a lot more basic a design (even if it is a bit dated looking)

With regards to the clutch pedal, it feels like there's no pressure at all when the pedals pushed to the floor and it has to be lifted a little before it springs back up into it's original position.

I'm going to top up the fluid tomorrow and see if that makes any difference

Awesome idea mate, H4H is a brilliant charity and you will hopefully bring more positive attention to our forces. It always amazes me why ours aren't held in the same regard by the public as our American "friends".
