Cheers craig and cheers to all of you guys, thanks to everyone who's supported me during the project through the highs and lows and to keep me going on this when i was going to give up :bow:

The manifolds were glowing after a minute of running so switched it off but it was running perfectly.

Heated manifolds means running lean so have to have a read on how to adjust the carb so i'll be back out there tomorrow getting it set up :)

It sounds awesome so can't wait to get it under load and hear what it sounds like properly!

Just encoding the video then uploading for you all

cant wait to hear this baby roaring . what sort of power do you reckon its gonna be kicking out

How long's a piece of string? :rofl:

I'm hoping for at least 400bhp if not more, there are cars running near 500bhp with a similar setup but until i get it set up properly it'll be quick but not to its full potential.

My aim is eventually when i've got the few bits i couldn't afford for the ignition that i'll be close to 450-475bhp but any more will be a nice suprise :D

It's not finished processing the video yet but check it out (especially the flames shooting out the carb and my bro nearly shitting himself as i tried to start it as he was under it) :rofl: :tongue_smilie:

Cheers buddy :) My brother's worried about everything blowing up whereas i'm trying to see where the explosion's coming from :rofl:

I'm going to be on the car all evening tuning it so i'll get a better video tonight when i'm back once i've solved the mystery of the missing fuel pressure gauge and missing air fuel mixture gauge :(

wooop wooop :drool::drool::drool:

lovely sound a growling v8

well done mate another milestone turned

cant wait to hear her with a few more revs when shes set up properly

tell your brother to stand down the road when you really wind her up

will help his stock of clean underpants stay high !!

Fantastic work Nick :rockon::rockon::rockon:

Hope to see it in the Flesh sometime.

Yep, i'll give him some more beans when i've got the pressure and mixture right but can't wait to see what it sounds like at the top end :) Only took it up to 3k last night before the manifolds started glowing red(!) so i'll get that mixture sorted out tonight when i get back and hopefully get the none working gauges to work.

lol, he's a worrier, i think he'd die if he'd had to do this project himself! Especially the flames were awesome :rofl:

Congratulations mate! A bit of tweaking and you'll be on the road hopefully we'll both be ready for the drag challenge next year. Those 2 side by side down the pod should make some pretty nice noises :scared:

The glowing manifolds also often when the timing too retarded - the mixture is ignited too late and still burning when the exhaust valves open. Usually if very lean it will spit back too.

Thanks Mick, hopefully i'll be on the road for Japshow Finale and the Miss Banzai Tunnel Run so if you're at the pod in october i should be there :D

I can't wait buddy, still haven't heard yours in the flesh yet but i'm sure they'll both sound awesome so should be a good race for the public watching on! :D

It fires clockwise round the dissy and i'd turned it anticlockwise initially (advancing the timing) and it seemed to spit flames out the carb. Turned it clockwise and it seemed to run properly so i'll get the timing light on it tonight and set it up properly. Plus i couldn't check the air fuel mixture because the AEM gauge wasn't moving so need to check all my gauges tonight before i do any more but a massive step forward for me now, just tidying up to do then get it off the ramps and see if it moves! :hyper: :rockon:

Cheers buddy :hyper: Just reading up on how to adjust the carb and change the jets then i'll be on it tonight to get the timing right and those missing gauges working. Ordered an inline fuel pressure gauge for the engine (it's a bit of bling but saves me keep going in and out of the car all the time to check)

Can't wait to get home tonight and fire it up again :hyper:

Congrats Nick. Bet your glad its finally running. :D

(p.s. I cant wait to get home to watch that video :D)

lol, ahh you haven't seen the vid yet then :D

I'll be putting another up tonight when i've got it running a bit better but i've got all evening and the weekend to get it right.

Hopefully by Sunday it should be mobile, it would drive now but i need to get the final prop shaft bolt in and fill the gearbox/diff before i drop it and get the brakes all cleaned up/bled off before i do drop it off the stands. Also need to sort out the power steering (didn't test it last night but the bottom hose needed ptfe tape as it was leaking)

Not long at all buddy, will only get a couple of hours on it tonight but i'll make an effort to get a better vid of it revving up just didn't dare do it while the tuning/timing is slightly out :)

welldone Nick it sounds alive....dont change carb settings just yet as there pretty much ok out the box and no way will it be running lean at this stage and rpm range,as john has said it will be timing thats out:yes:

Hello mate :) I haven't starte it yet until I could get the fuel pressure set correctly and the lambda sensor working.

Stripped the dash back this evening and managed to locate the missing 6 pin sensor wire and plug it in so now working!

The fuel pressure gauge is putting out 5v which does nothing when earthed although the sender gives no change in resistance whether fuel pump on or off so guessing it's a faulty sender.

So ordered an inline fuel gauge to go on the regulator on special delivery for tomorrow so I can bolt that in, set the pressure and I'm ready to set the timing properly with the gun knowing I can then see the air/fuel mixture as I'm doing it.
