I know there's a lot of brake threads but I couldn't see the answer to this question (which I'm sure is glaringly obvious but I just want to make sure)...

...I have relatively new EBC red stuff pads on my stock calipers all round. If I get some R33 GTR brembos on the front, can I used the existing pads or will I need to buy new ones to fit?

Cheers

Hmm...had a feeling. What are the recommended pads then? I've just got some brembo 330mm front grooved discs too which will be going on in the near future....

I can wholeheartedly recommend our Porterfield R-4S Carbon-Kevlar pads as and when you move over to R33/34 calipers. Will need to requote you an accurate price at the time of ordering (due to currency fluctuations) but at the moment the price is £115.00 front and £105.00 rear.

I see you've decided to go with Brembo discs rather than the AP ones ... don't blame you, the AP discs would have been one heck of a hassle to get sorted. If that's the case can I stand-down my AP guy?

Hey Dan

That doesn't sound too bad. I'll give you a call once it's all sorted.

As for the AP discs, I was planning on going with them but then the brembos came up on here at a great price and it was an impulse buy!! Been so busy trying to sort those and the bumper I neglected to update you - apologies.

Please thanks your AP guy for his help so far but I don't think I'll be going with the AP discs (unless the brembos don't fit for whatever reason!).

Thanks again bud...appreciate all your efforts!

Regards,

I recommend DTA/Smithys i have the Porterfield R-4S and they are brilliant couldnt fault them

Entirely different size and shape.

You can however sell your old Front Calipers, pads and discs to SX owners for around £100.

These brembo discs yuo have, are they for GTR fitment ? - becuase the GTR calipers require a 324mmx30mm Disc with the correct offset.

Maybe double check what car they off and size as some believe that GTR discs are 330mm when they ain't!

Oh and a yes on the R4-S pads too :-)

Bought the discs on here off EvoluZion3 (http://300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=135553)...pretty sure they are ok for the brembos but have agreed with Dave that in case they don't fit I can return for full refund...I know..absolute legend!

I hope for the both of us that they do fit but it was an impulse buy and I was at work so didn't get a chance to properly measure up! My old discs are 330mm AP discs so I imagine these should fit....find out tomorrow as getting them fitted (before calipers arrive as my discs are worn to buggery and the whole car judders like crazy on braking!)....

...change calipers over when I get them I guess....
