Hi all,

Just after a little advice; my cars at Zedworld for it's MOT and a couple of other bits... It failed the MOT on movement in the upper Arms (already adjustable fitted by Previous owner) on the Front . Jamie has looked and basically they can't be tightened anymore so need replacing.

For MOT purposes we're replacing with a stock item but obviously long term I need to replace with another decent adjustable set...

I've looked at both Driftworks and the Zed centre sets and both look like they'ed do the job... question is does anyone have any experience with either make or can someone recommend a decent alternative??

Cheers in advance

Paul :online2long:

I can't comment on the Driftworks or Zed Centre ones - Although I would suspect that the Zed Centre ones will be decent quality, as everything I've ever bought from the Zed Centre have been quality items (and Luke really does know these cars and the importance of top notch parts!) - But Powertrix are probably one of the leading brands when it comes to components like these. I know some of their earlier arms were subject to fracturing of their collars, but they continually improve on them and I know that they had solved this problem a while ago - Strangely, this fills me with more confidence in their parts, as they intend to be around and supplying good stuff for many a year to come, so you can rely on their commitment to giving you the best! Besides that, Charles seems a really decent fella and upgraded the collars on my arms for free (from the good 'ole U.S of A.!!)

I had the driftworks ones on my skyline and would definately recommend them (same ones on Z32).

The Miester ones that have been mentioned on here just lately looked a quality bit of kit as well .

^^^fitted these to my car recently along with a few other parts from MiesterR. Very well made IMO

Hi all,

Thanks for all the advice... I think I'll steer clear of the Powertrix stuff and look at the Driftworks kit...

Shame that mate, as you'll see from searching silverbullet is the only person here ( couldn't see any in the US either) that has ever had an issue with powertrix, which have been around for many years than many others but yet still continue by way of trial and error improve on their products.

Must say Mine have been very good & used for years as a daily driver before it come off the road.

The pics in the links of silverbullet's torsion rods also look nothing like my Powertrix ones either?!

Naaaaa.......I've never had any issues with any of the Powertrix stuff I've fitted either - And my suspension was rock hard with 13kg/mm front and 8.7mm/kg rear springs fitted at one point - so, as you can imagine, my suspension components took a battering!! The only issue I did have was when I thought one of the collars may have cracked, but it turned out to be it just needed tightening up - I still haven't fitted the uprated ones I was sent :)

hmmm.... Interesting, it's time to start comparing prices etc. I think though I may go with the driftworks ones as alot of people seem to be using them...

Well I've gone for the driftworks versions as recommended... At the end of the day i think that they will do the job and no one has had a bad word to say about them yet so they have to be the best bet IMO...

Thanks for the help & advice all!!!:cool3:

Not really a how to thread but I posted these when I done mine (god, was it really back in 2005 LOL!):

Wheel alignment showing installation: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=43972

The top arms just unbolt with the bracket mounted to the vehicle frame, unbolt the inner bolt from the bracket - adjust the new arm to the same length as the old standard arm (pass the bolts through the old arm bolt holes & line up with the new adjustable arm) Then fit the arms to the brackets & mount back on the car.

The vehicle then needs a wheel alignment to set the suspension angles up.

HTH :)

just to add to this thread my powertrix front upper camber arms have failed, broken at the collar which holds the thread, very dangerous and i was lucky to spot it! also its an item i regularly check ,grease etc these ones were on there second set of bearings too as the originals squeeked like crazy!

anybody have any links to the meister ones otherwise im gonna go japspeed as they have a better design imo!

Just dealing with a brand new set of Japspeed adjustable rear upper links that snapped less than a week after fitting, waiting on their comments at the moment, I have feeling what ever make you use they are just not up to the job on British roads.

im on about the fronts jeff,

they are the same ones sold on the z centre/japspeed and the clamp design looks far superior then the old powertrix/driftworks variety

im on about the fronts jeff,

Yes I did realise that, just was a general comment about after market adjustable suspension parts, its very difficult to know what to do for the best to be honest as no particular make gets a 100% thumbs up.
