Totally agree! I come from a HGV background (mechanics and drivers) and I agree its not the "piece of piss" job everyone thinks its is which is why my dad encouraged me to do computers :)

2 minutes from J24 of the M5! When you're down next, there's cake and tea here!

yep sure Si:)

Once you're south of Weston Super Mare, the traffic is usually pretty easy going down here and once past Exeter it's really quite quiet.

yea that A30 down to the coast is one hell of a zed road thats for sure...i was in my 2 tonne tank labled a range rover:cursing:

You should have driven cross country! ha! The scenery is pretty nice. I drive down to Cornwall once a month usually. I go and see the design engineers at Allen and Heath who make really cool audio lab equipment. :) the guy that I see down there has a tank as a weekend toy...yes, a tank! ha! Brings it into work sometimes!

i drive a lorry for a living mate and what you say is spot on.

i travel to bristol/taunton/exeter/peterborough/northampton/milton keynes/essex/south coast and hell(london) and up as far as derby.

and the roads are diabolical!

I spend 5 days and nights in the lorry and only see my wife and kid on tuesday/wednesday for £8 an hour. And i dread thursday when im going back to work as i know i am facing heavy traffic/roadworks and idiots and being stuck at 56mph. or 50mph most of the time because of roadworks.

ime a roofer of 36 years experience mate and its a breeze compared to driving on todays roads

I agree with you Brian; I could not drive for a living either.....

....... if I have a long distance holiday drive I try to do it at the weekend. I did have to visit a customer in the Lake District a couple of months ago so I left home at the crack of dawn. Fortunately traffic was light when I left; M40/M42/M6 toll/M6 were realtively quiet for most of the way and I managed to reach Cumbria in 3 hours!!

It did take me longer to get home though - that was a long day and luckily I don't have to do that very often!

Richard:crying:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

yet another dreary drive down the M4 and M5

:thumbdown::thumbdown: goodluck..:tongue_smilie:

I do a fair few miles for a living, but I work as well as it were. Last week for example, (4 day week!) I went from home, lancaster, to hull to train some customers, then to worksop to collect an old machine, then to st anns in nottingham to replace a laptop then to peterborough and stayed over night, work the wednesday and thursday in peterborough and then drove home to lancaster to vote, then drove to solihull to stay the night part of the way down the country, as I had to be in High wycombe and Reading on the Friday.

So that works out to around 1000 miles, not a huge amount but I do do a service/installation/training/sales/repair/customer relations job at the same time.

hey znut u should of popped in to see dannzx he lives in hayle just b4 st ives & i live in penzance so only a few miles away & was working in truro so u passed us all without knowing lol ZEDS are watching you!!!!!
